Finally, wait is over and Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced class 10 Board exams date. This year class 10th board exam will be started from 15 February 2025 and will last upto 18 March 2025, it will take around 32 days to complete the class 10th board exam. The first exam will be held on 15 February 2025 for English subject and the last exam will be held on 18 March 2025 for Computer Applications, Information Technology & Artificial Intelligence subjects. The practical exams/Internal Assesment/Projects & the board's annual theory examinations are scheduled to start w.e.f 01th January 2025 and 15th February 2025.

OFFICIAL SYLLABUS

Computer Applications - (Code 165) 

Unit 1: Networking

1. Internet: World Wide Web, web servers, web clients, web sites, web pages, web browsers, blogs, news groups, HTML, web address, e-mail address, downloading and uploading files from a remote site. Internet protocols: TCP/IP, SMTP, POP3, HTTP, HTTPS. Remote login and file transfer protocols: SSH, SFTP, FTP, SCP, TELNET, SMTP, TCP/IP.

2. Services available on the internet: information retrieval, locating sites using search engines and finding people on the net;

3. Web services: chat, email, video conferencing, e-Learning, e-Banking, eShopping, e-Reservation, e-Governance, e-Groups, social networking.

4. Mobile technologies: SMS, MMS, 3G, 4G.

Unit 2: HTML

1. Introduction to web page designing using HTML: create and save an HTML document, and access a web page using a web browser.

2. HTML tags: html, head, title, body, (attributes: text, background, bgcolor, link, vlink, alink), br (break), hr(horizontal rule), inserting comments, h1..h6 (heading), p (paragraph), b (bold), i (italics), u (underline), ul (unordered list), ol (ordered list), and li (list item). Description lists: dl, dt, and dd. Attributes of ol (start, type), ul (type).

3. Font tags (attributes: face, size, color).

4. Insert images: img (attributes: src, width, height, alt), sup (superscript), sub (subscript).

5. HTML Forms: Textbox, radio buttons, checkbox, password, list, combo box.

6. Embed audio and video on an HTML page.

7. Create a table using the tags: table, tr, th, td, row span, colspan

8. Links: significance of linking, anchor element (attributes: href, mailto), targets.

9. Cascading style sheets: color, background color, border style, margin, height, width, outline, font (family, style, size), align, float.

Unit 3: Cyberethics

1. Netiquettes.

2. Software licenses and the open-source software movement.

3. Intellectual property rights, plagiarism, and digital property rights.

4. Freedom of information and the digital divide.

5. E-commerce: Privacy, fraud, secure data transmission.

Unit 4: Scratch or Python (Theory and Practical)

Alternative 1: Scratch

1. Revision of the basics of Scratch

2. Sprite, tempo, variables, and events

3. Coordinates and conditionals

4. Drawing with iteration

5. Update variables repeatedly, iterative development, ask and answer blocks

6. Create games, animated images, stories, and songs

OR

Alternative 2: Python

1. Revision of Python basics

2. Conditionals: if, if-else statements

3.  Loops: for, while (e.g., the sum of first 10 natural numbers)

4.  Practice simple programs

Unit 5: Lab Exercises

1. Create static web pages.

2. Use style sheets to enforce a format in an HTML page (CSS).

3. Embed pictures, audio, and videos on an HTML page.

4. Add tables and frames to an HTML page.

5. Decorate web pages using graphical elements.

6. Create a website using several web pages. Students may use any open-source or proprietary tool.

7. Work with HTML forms: text box, radio buttons, checkbox, password, list, combo box.

8. Write a blog using HTML pages discussing viruses, malware, spam, and antiviruses

9. Create a web page discussing plagiarism. List some reported cases of plagiarism and the consequent punishment meted out. Explain the nature of the punishment in different countries as per their IP laws.

10. Create simple stories with Scratch (involving at least two objects/characters) and iteration OR write programs for finding the sum/product of first n natural numbers using Python.

Conditions of eligibility for admission to class X. 

1. Candidates who have been studying in a School recognised by or affiliated to this Board or any other recognised Board of Secondary Education in India.

2. Candidates can not take admission directly in class X.

3. Candidates had completed a regular course of study for class IX and passed class IX examination from a school affilicated to this Board.

4. The candidates percentage for attendance should be 75% so that the Board to make him/her eligible for the Examinations.

5. Candidate can be admitted to a school only on the transfer of the parents(s) or shifting of their families from one place to another, after procuring from the student the marksheet and the Transfer Certificate duly counter signed by the Educational Authorities of the Board concerned.

6. There is no age limit for candidates taking the Examination.

7. Candidate should have doucments in support of his having passed the qualifying or equivalent qualifying examination.

Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Monday, May 23, successfully conducted the Class 10 Computer Application Term 2 subject examination 2022. The difficulty level of the paper was Easy, The paper was 25 marks and students could wind up their papers on time. The theoretical part was easy. However, the case study questions were tricky and were based on conceptual knowledge.

1. The question paper contains three Sections-Section A, B, and C. Each Section is Compulsory.

2. Section A has 4 questions of Short Answer Type. Each question is of 2 marks. Internal choice is provided in 1 question.

3. Section B has 3 questions of Long Answer Type (LA - I). Each question is of 3 marks. Internal choice is provided in 1 question.

4. Section C has 2 questions of Long Answer Type (LA - II). Each question is of 4 marks.
