The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced the subject-wise marks distribution for the CBSE Board Exams 2026. Students appearing for Class 10 and Class 12 examinations can access the detailed notification on the official website. The updated bifurcation outlines the maximum marks allotted for theory exams, practical exams, project work, and internal assessments.
For Class 10, the board has retained the structure of 80 marks for theory and 20 marks for internal assessment for each subject.
For Class 12, the marking scheme varies depending on the subject. Most subjects carry 80 marks for theory and 20 marks for internal assessment or 20 marks for practicals. Some Class 12 subjects follow a different pattern, such as 70 marks theory + 30 marks practical, while others follow 60 marks theory + 40 marks practical.
The schedule for the practical exams, project work, and internal assessments for both Classes 10 and 12 has been set from January 1 to February 14, 2026.
The CBSE Class 10 board exams 2026 will take place from February 17 to March 10, 2026. The exams will begin with Mathematics Standard and Mathematics Basic and conclude with the French paper. Most exams will be held from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM, although a few subjects will follow a 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM slot.
Similarly, the Class 12 board exams will commence on February 17, 2026 and continue until April 9, 2026.
