The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced the launch of the first phase of its annual free Psycho-Social Counselling Services for students of Classes X and XII, starting from January 6, 2026, and continuing until June 1, 2026, according to an official statement.
This initiative is designed to support students in managing exam-related stress and promoting emotional well-being, helping them approach their upcoming theory examinations, scheduled to begin on February 17, 2026, with confidence, clarity, and balance.
Key Features of the Counselling Services
A 24x7 helpline is available at 1800 11 8004, offering round-the-clock support in Hindi and English through the Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS).
Students can receive guidance on stress-free exam preparation, effective time management, coping strategies, and answers to frequently asked questions.
The service also provides important CBSE contact details for student support.
Expert Panel
Students and parents can consult a panel of 73 trained professionals, including Principals, Counsellors, Special Educators, and qualified Psychologists from CBSE-affiliated schools. Among them, 61 counsellors are based in India, while 12 are stationed internationally in Nepal, Japan, Qatar, Oman, and the UAE, offering a diverse and extensive support network on a voluntary basis.
Online Resources
The CBSE website hosts a curated collection of resources focused on stress management, emotional well-being, and effective study techniques. These materials are designed to be concise, engaging, and easily accessible, providing additional support for students during the examination period.
CBSE encourages both students and parents to make full use of these counselling services as part of the Board’s ongoing efforts to ensure students’ psycho-social well-being throughout the Class X and XII exam cycle.
This annual programme, first introduced in 2025, aims to help students cope with exam pressures. Last year, the first phase ran from February 1 to April 4, receiving positive engagement from students and parents.
