Description

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued the tentative timetable for the Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations 2026 on its official website.

As per the released schedule, the main board exams for both Classes 10 and 12 will begin on February 17, 2026. The Class 10 exams will end on March 9, 2026, while the Class 12 exams will continue until April 9, 2026.

The majority of papers will be conducted between 10:30 AM and 1:30 PM, though a few subjects will have a shorter duration, from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM.

CBSE Exam-2 For Class 10

Apart from the main exam, CBSE has also scheduled the Class 10 Exam-2 (second examination) to commence tentatively on May 15, 2026.

Number Of Candidates And Subjects

  • Expected candidates: Around 45 lakh students

  • Total subjects: 204 across both Classes 10 and 12

  • Exam centres: In India and 26 other countries abroad

Purpose Of Tentative Datesheet

According to CBSE, releasing the tentative timetable in advance will:

  • Help students structure their preparation for better performance.

  • Allow schools to manage academic and administrative tasks, including assigning teachers for examination and evaluation duties.

  • Enable teachers to plan their personal commitments, including vacation schedules, more effectively.
