The CMAT 2026 syllabus is designed to assess candidates’ aptitude across five sections: Quantitative Techniques & Data Interpretation, Logical Reasoning, Language Comprehension, General Awareness, and Innovation & Entrepreneurship. It covers topics such as arithmetic, algebra, data interpretation, verbal ability, reasoning skills, current affairs, and business awareness.
The syllabus focuses on evaluating problem-solving ability, analytical thinking, and decision-making skills required for management studies.

CMAT will be conducted by NTA as three hour entrance Examination in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode to evaluate the candidates’ ability across various segments for admission to the Management Courses.

Mode of Examination
CMAT Examination will be conducted as a Computer Based Test (CBT). Questions will be Objective Type Multiple Choice in nature.
Medium of Examination
The medium of Question Paper shall be in English only.

Marking Scheme Highlights
1. Each question carries 04 (four) marks.
2. For each correct response, candidate will get 04 (four) marks.
3. For each incorrect response, 1 (one) mark will be deducted from the total score.
4. Un-answered/ un-attempted questions will be given no marks.
5. To answer a question, the candidate needs to choose one option as correct option.
6. However, after the process of Challenges of the Answer Key, in case there are multiple correct options or change in key, only those candidates who have attempted it correctly as per the revised Answer key will be awarded marks.
7. In case a Question is dropped due to some technical error, full marks shall be given to all the candidates who have attempted it.
Important Points to Note
1. There is no sectional time limit; candidates can move freely between sections
2. All sections carry equal weightage
3. The Innovation & Entrepreneurship section tests creative thinking, business awareness, and problem-solving ability
4. The exam tests speed, accuracy, and overall aptitude
Eligibility
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Candidates willing to apply for the CMAT Examination must fulfil the eligibility criteria prescribed by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The eligibility requirements mainly include nationality, educational qualification and other conditions specified in the CMAT Information Bulletin. There is no age limit for appearing in CMAT. Candidates who do not meet the prescribed eligibility requirements may be considered ineligible for the examination or admission. However, candidates must also fulfil the eligibility and admission criteria of the respective participating institute, as colleges may prescribe additional requirements for admission.
The candidate’s eligibility for CMAT Examination is based on the fulfilment of the following conditions :-

Nationality
The candidate must be a citizen of India in order to be eligible for CMAT examination.
Age Limit
There is no age limit for appearing in CMAT 2026.
Therefore, no separate age relaxation is applicable for any category.
Educational Qualification
Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognised university/institution.
Candidates appearing in the final year of their Bachelor’s degree were also eligible to apply, provided their result was declared before the commencement of admission for the academic session.
Candidates should fulfil the eligibility and admission requirements of the respective participating institute, as institutes may prescribe additional conditions.
Reservations
In the case of Institutes run by the Central Government, the reservation would be applicable as mentioned below:
1 - 15% of the seats Scheduled Castes (SC) candidates.
2 - 7.5% seats for Scheduled Tribes (ST) candidates
3 - 27% seats for Other Backward Classes (OBC) Non-Creamy Layer (NCL) candidates as per the Central List*
4 - 10% of the seats for General Economically Weaker Sections (General - EWS) candidates
5 - Persons with Disability/ Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwD) – 5% seats in each of the GENERAL, GEN-EWS, OBC- NCL, SC and ST category seats

EXAM ANALYSIS
CMAT 2026 was conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on January 25, 2026, in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode. The five sections were Quantitative Techniques and Data Interpretation, Logical Reasoning, Language Comprehension, General Awareness, and Innovation and Entrepreneurship, with 20 questions in each section.
Section-Wise Analysis
Quantitative Techniques & Data Interpretation: The section was Easy to Moderate and was considered one of the more scoring sections. Questions were mainly based on arithmetic, algebra and basic data interpretation. Candidates with good calculation speed and conceptual clarity could attempt a substantial number of questions.
Logical Reasoning: The LR section was Easy to Moderate to Moderate. Questions tested basic logical thinking, arrangements, series, coding-decoding and other reasoning concepts. Most questions were manageable with proper time management.
Language Comprehension: The section was Easy to Moderate. Reading comprehension, vocabulary, grammar and sentence-based questions formed the major areas. Candidates with good reading and language skills could attempt this section comfortably.
General Awareness: GA was considered the most unpredictable section, with a mix of current affairs and static general knowledge. Its difficulty was around Moderate to Difficult, and accuracy was more important than attempting a large number of questions.
Innovation & Entrepreneurship: This section was generally Moderate. Questions focused on entrepreneurship concepts, business awareness, startups, innovation and related fundamentals. Candidates familiar with the subject could attempt a reasonable number of questions.

CMAT 2026 Good Attempts
Based on post-exam analysis, around 70–75 questions with high accuracy can be considered a good overall attempt. Section-wise, approximately 16–18 questions in Quantitative Techniques & DI, 15–17 in Logical Reasoning, 15–17 in Language Comprehension, 10–12 in General Awareness and 11–13 in Innovation & Entrepreneurship were considered reasonable good-attempt ranges. These are indicative figures, not an official NTA benchmark.
Overall CMAT 2026 Analysis
Overall, CMAT 2026 was a manageable paper with a relatively familiar pattern. Quantitative Techniques, Logical Reasoning and Language Comprehension were comparatively scoring, while General Awareness required stronger preparation and accuracy. Since there was no sectional time limit, candidates could manage their time according to their strengths. The 70–75 high-accuracy attempts range was considered competitive, although the final percentile depends on the scaled score and overall candidate performance.
Expected CMAT 2027 Exam
For CMAT 2027, the exam is expected to continue in CBT mode with five sections and 100 questions, broadly following the CMAT 2026 structure. However, NTA may change the examination schedule, pattern or other details in the official notification. Therefore, candidates should treat the 2026 pattern as a reference for preparation and follow the official CMAT 2027 notification for the final exam date, timing, pattern and marking scheme. Current estimates place the CMAT 2027 exam around January 2027, but the exact date should be confirmed only after NTA's official notification.

To prepare effectively for the CMAT exam, candidates should build strong fundamentals in Quantitative Techniques and Logical Reasoning through regular practice. Reading newspapers and current affairs magazines daily helps improve General Awareness and Language Comprehension. Solving previous year papers and mock tests is essential for understanding the exam pattern and improving time management. Consistent revision and maintaining accuracy during practice are key to achieving a high score.

Enhance your reading and comprehension skills by reading newspapers, magazines, and editorials. Practice grammar rules, sentence correction, vocabulary, and reading comprehension passages to boost accuracy.
5. Prepare for General Awareness
Stay updated with current affairs, business news, static GK, and recent events. Make short notes of important news, awards, sports, economy, and national & international developments.
6. Focus on Innovation & Entrepreneurship
This section tests conceptual understanding and business awareness. Read about startups, innovation trends, basic management concepts, and entrepreneurship-related topics.
7. Practice Mock Tests & Previous Year Papers
Solve full-length mock tests and previous years’ question papers regularly. This helps you understand the exam difficulty, manage time efficiently, and identify weak areas.
8. Work on Time Management & Accuracy
Practice completing mock tests within the 3-hour time limit. Avoid negative marking by attempting questions wisely and focusing on accuracy.
9. Regular Revision
Revise formulas, concepts, vocabulary, and GK notes weekly. Consistent revision helps retain information and boosts confidence.
10. Maintain a Healthy Routine
Follow a balanced study schedule, take short breaks, eat healthy, and get enough sleep to stay focused and stress-free during preparation.

OVERVIEW
The Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) 2026 is a national-level entrance examination conducted for admission to management programmes across the country. This test enables AICTE-affiliated and participating institutions to select eligible graduate candidates for admission into MBA/PGDM and other management courses. CMAT is an aptitude-based examination conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) and is accepted by numerous B-Schools across India.
Earlier, the examination was conducted by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) until 2018, while NTA has been conducting CMAT since 2019. The CMAT 2026 exam is a three-hour computer-based online test, designed to assess candidates’ abilities in Quantitative Techniques and Data Interpretation, Logical Reasoning, Language Comprehension, General Awareness, and Innovation & Entrepreneurship.

SELECTION PROCESS
CMAT 2026 was conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) as a national-level entrance examination for admission to management programmes. The CMAT score is accepted by AICTE-approved institutions, university departments, constituent colleges and affiliated colleges. Eligible candidates were required to hold a bachelor’s degree in any discipline, while final-year graduation students were also eligible to apply, subject to fulfilling the prescribed conditions. Candidates applied online, downloaded their admit cards and appeared for the Computer-Based Test (CBT) covering Quantitative Techniques and Data Interpretation, Logical Reasoning, Language Comprehension, General Awareness, and Innovation and Entrepreneurship. After the examination, NTA released the CMAT 2026 result and NTA scores, and candidates could download their scorecards online.
The CMAT score is used by participating institutes to shortlist candidates for admission. The NTA does not conduct any centralised counselling for CMAT. Candidates are required to apply separately to the institutes accepting CMAT scores. Shortlisted candidates may be called for further selection rounds such as Group Discussion (GD), Written Ability Test (WAT), Personal Interview (PI) or other institute-specific assessments. The final selection is based on the respective institute’s admission criteria, which may consider the CMAT score, performance in selection rounds, academic profile and other applicable factors. Candidates selected for admission must complete the required document verification and fee-payment formalities within the prescribed deadline.

LATEST UPDATE
The National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct the Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) 2026 in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode. The online application process for the examination was made available on the official website https://cmat.nta.nic.in/ from 17 October 2025, as announced through the public notice dated the same day. Registered candidates will be able to download their CMAT admit card from 20 January 2026, and as per the official notification, the CMAT 2026 examination is scheduled to be held on 25 January 2026.
The CMAT 2026 Admit Card was released on January 20, 2026 by the National Testing Agency (NTA). Candidates could download their admit cards from the official CMAT website using their login credentials.
The CMAT 2026 Result was declared on February 17, 2026 by the National Testing Agency (NTA). Along with the result, NTA released the CMAT 2026 NTA Scores, Final Answer Key and Scorecard. Candidates can check and download their CMAT 2026 scorecard through the official CMAT website using their login credentials. The scorecard contains the candidate’s performance details and CMAT score.
The CMAT 2026 counselling/admission process is being conducted separately by participating colleges and institutes, as there is no centralised counselling conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for CMAT. After the declaration of the CMAT 2026 result on February 17, 2026, candidates can apply individually to CMAT-accepting MBA/PGDM institutes as per their eligibility and preferred programmes.
