UGC NET June exam date has been rescheduled to April 29, 2024. UGC NET exam was scheduled to be held on June 18, 2024 (Tuesday) instead of June 16, 2024 (Sunday), but now this exam will be conducted between September 21, 2024 to November 4, 2024. Candidates interested in appearing for the UGC NET exam can fill the application form till May 19, 2024. The last date for payment of application fee is May 20, 2024 and the last date for application correction window is May 21 to 23, 2024.
The result of GC NET June 2024 was declared on October 17, 2024. This result was released by the National Testing Agency (NTA). Result is available on the official website.

The examination for UGC NET is divided into two parts namely:-
1. Paper I
2. Paper II
Paper I & II will have Objective type, multiple-choice questions. Paper, I will contain a total of 50 Questions and 100 Marks. Paper-II will have 100 Questions and 200 Marks. The examination will be for 180 Minutes.
The section-wise distribution of Questions and Marks is given below:-

UGC NET MODE OF EXAMINATION
The Examination shall be conducted in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode only. The examination will consist of Objective Type, Multiple Choice Questions.
UGC NET MEDIUM OF EXAMINATION
1. The medium of the Question Paper shall be in English & Hindi only.
2. Option of medium of Question Paper should be carefully chosen by the Candidate while filling the Application Form online. The option once exercised cannot be changed.
3. Candidates opting for Hindi medium in the Application Form will be given bilingual paper, but candidates opting for English medium will be given English version only.
4. Candidates are required to answer in the medium as per the option exercised in the Application Form.
5. In case of any ambiguity in translation/construction of a question in the exam, its English version shall be treated as final and the decision of NTA shall be final in this regard.
UGC NET MARKING SCHEME
Questions from Paper I shall contain 50 Questions of total 100 Marks (2 Marks each) and Paper-II shall contain 100 Questions of total of 200 Marks (2 Marks each), thus summing up to 300 Marks.
Marking Scheme Highlights:-
1. Each question carries 02 (two) marks.
2. For each correct response, the candidate will get 02 (two) marks.
3. There is no negative marking for incorrect response.
4. No marks will be given for questions unanswered/ unattempted/marked for review.
5. To answer a question, the candidate needs to choose one option as the correct option.
6. If a question is found to be incorrect/ambiguous during the Key Challenge, only those candidates who have attempted the question and chosen one of the correct answers would be given the credit. Only for dropped question(s), if any, marks will be given to all the candidates.
7. In case a Question is dropped due to some technical error, full marks shall be given to the candidates who have attempted it.
NORMALISATION OF MARKS
1. For multi-shift papers, raw marks obtained by the candidates in different shifts/sessions will be converted to NTA Score (percentile).
2. In case a subject test is conducted in multi-shifts, NTA Score will be calculated corresponding to the raw marks obtained by a candidate. The calculated NTA Score for the Raw Marks for all the shifts/sessions will be merged for further processing for deciding the allocation.
Formula for Normalisation :-
(100 X No. of Candidates Appeared in the ‘Session’ with Raw Score Equal to or Less than the Candidate) / Total Number of Candidates Appeared in the Session
In the events of the percentiles for the multi-shifts being dissimilar / unequal, the lowest will be the eligibility cut-off for that category for all candidates (i.e. all shifts)
There shall be no re-evaluation/re-checking of result. No correspondence in this regard shall be entertained.
Note:- The Percentile of the Total shall NOT be an aggregate or average of the Percentile of an individual subject. The percentile score is not the same as the percentage of marks obtained.

7. In case a Question is dropped due to some technical error, full marks shall be given to the candidates who have attempted it.
NORMALISATION OF MARKS
1. For multi-shift papers, raw marks obtained by the candidates in different shifts/sessions will be converted to NTA Score (percentile).
2. In case a subject test is conducted in multi-shifts, NTA Score will be calculated corresponding to the raw marks obtained by a candidate. The calculated NTA Score for the Raw Marks for all the shifts/sessions will be merged for further processing for deciding the allocation.
Formula for Normalisation :-
(100 X No. of Candidates Appeared in the ‘Session’ with Raw Score Equal to or Less than the Candidate) / Total Number of Candidates Appeared in the Session
In the events of the percentiles for the multi-shifts being dissimilar / unequal, the lowest will be the eligibility cut-off for that category for all candidates (i.e. all shifts)
There shall be no re-evaluation/re-checking of result. No correspondence in this regard shall be entertained.
Note:- The Percentile of the Total shall NOT be an aggregate or average of the Percentile of an individual subject. The percentile score is not the same as the percentage of marks obtained.

The Other Backward Classes (OBC) belonging to Non-Creamy Layer/Scheduled Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST)/Persons with Disability (PwD)/Transgender category candidates who have secured at least 50% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s degree or equivalent examination are eligible for this Test.
3. Candidates who are pursuing their Master’s degree or equivalent course or candidates who have appeared for their qualifying Master’s degree (final year) examination and whose result is still awaited or candidates whose qualifying examinations have been delayed may also apply for this test. However, such candidates will be admitted provisionally and shall be considered eligible for award of JRF/eligibility for Assistant Professor only after they have passed their Master’s Degree or equivalent examination with at least 55% marks (50% marks in case of OBC-NCL /SC/ST/PwD/Transgender category candidates). Such candidates must complete their Master's degree or equivalent examination within two years from the date of NET result with the required percentage of marks, failing which they shall be treated as disqualified.
4. The Ph.D. degree holders whose Master’s level examination have been completed by 19 September 1991 (irrespective of the date of declaration of result) shall be eligible for a relaxation of 5% in aggregate marks (i.e. from 55% to 50%) for appearing in NET.

UGC NET June exam date has been rescheduled to April 29, 2024. UGC NET exam was scheduled to be held on June 18, 2024 (Tuesday) instead of June 16, 2024 (Sunday), but now this exam will be conducted between September 21, 2024 to November 4, 2024. Candidates interested in appearing for the UGC NET exam can fill the application form till May 19, 2024. The last date for payment of application fee is May 20, 2024 and the last date for application correction window is May 21 to 23, 2024.
The result of GC NET June 2024 was declared on October 17, 2024. This result was released by the National Testing Agency (NTA). Result is available on the official website.
UGC NET EXAM
The UGC NET exam is conducted twice every year once in June and once in December. The UGC NET exam includes two papers for both JRF and Assistant Professor posts. The NTA-organized UGC NET Paper I is compulsory for all the candidates, while the candidates need to choose the subject of Paper II. The final merit list will be published based on the scores in both papers.
Note:- No break will be provided to the candidates in between Paper I & Paper-II.
UGC NET EXAM SELECTION PROCEDURE
1. The candidate belonging to the General category needs to secure at least 40% aggregate in both the papers taken together and at least 35% aggregate marks in both the papers taken together for the candidates belonging to the Reserved category (SC, ST, OBC, PWD, Transgender) in order to be considered for Assistant Professor or JRF.
2. The number of candidates who qualify for Assistant Professor should be equal to 6% of the total candidates appearing in both papers (Total slots). Similarly, the number of candidates who qualify for the award of JRF should be equal to 1% (approx.) of the total candidates who appeared in both papers.
3. The total slots shall be allocated to different categories as per the Government's Reservation Policy.
4. Subject-wise qualifying cut-offs for all categories are computed.
5. All the candidates who had applied for ‘Eligibility for Assistant Professor & JRF both’ out of the total number of qualified candidates computed as per Step IV, shall be taken into consideration zone for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF).
6. The subject-wise and category-wise merit list is prepared on the basis of marks obtained by the candidates in all the rounds for the selection purpose.

UGC NET EXAM
University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) is a national-level exam conducted in order to determine the eligibility of candidates for Assistant Professor or both Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Assistant Professor post in Indian universities and colleges. Till June 2018, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) carried out NET on behalf of UGC. However, from December 2018 onwards National Testing Agency (NTA) began engaging in the UGC NET exam.
Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) awardees could be eligible to pursue studies of their postgraduate concern from IIT's or different country-wide organizations. Such applicants also are eligible for the post of Assistant Professor in Colleges/Universities of India. The award of ‘Junior Research Fellowship and Eligibility for Assistant Professor each’ or ‘Eligibility for Assistant Professor only’ relies upon the overall performance of the candidate in each the papers of UGC-NET in aggregate.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) conduct the University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) twice a year at the national level. Candidates who qualify for ‘Assistant Professor only’ are not eligible for the award of JRF.

UGC NET Paper I & Paper II Examination 2024: Latest Update
UGC NET June exam date has been rescheduled to April 29, 2024. UGC NET exam was scheduled to be held on June 18, 2024 (Tuesday) instead of June 16, 2024 (Sunday), but now this exam will be conducted between September 21, 2024 to November 4, 2024. Candidates interested in appearing for the UGC NET exam can fill the application form till May 19, 2024. The last date for payment of application fee is May 20, 2024 and the last date for application correction window is May 21 to 23, 2024.
The result of GC NET June 2024 was declared on October 17, 2024. This result was released by the National Testing Agency (NTA). Result is available on the official website.
UGC NET EXAM
University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) is a national-level exam conducted in order to determine the eligibility of candidates for Assistant Professor or both Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Assistant Professor post in Indian universities and colleges. Till June 2018, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) carried out NET on behalf of UGC. However, from December 2018 onwards National Testing Agency (NTA) began engaging in the UGC NET exam.
Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) awardees could be eligible to pursue studies of their postgraduate concern from IIT's or different country-wide organizations. Such applicants also are eligible for the post of Assistant Professor in Colleges/Universities of India. The award of ‘Junior Research Fellowship and Eligibility for Assistant Professor each’ or ‘Eligibility for Assistant Professor only’ relies upon the overall performance of the candidate in each the papers of UGC-NET in aggregate.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) conduct the University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) twice a year at the national level. Candidates who qualify for ‘Assistant Professor only’ are not eligible for the award of JRF.

UGC NET EXAM SALARY STRUCTURE
UGC NET Salary structure can be divided into two parts. These are,
1. UGC NET JRF Salary or Scholarship
2. UGC NET Lecturer or Assistant Professor Salary
The actual salary for UGC NET qualified candidates depends upon whether they are going for a Private institute or a Government institute.
For Private Institutes: the salary range varies from 35,000–60,000 per month based on the experience backed by the Doctoral Degree.
For Government Institutes: if you have cleared the UGC NET exam and even if you do not have your Doctoral Degree, the Salary starts for an Assistant Professor at 70,000 per month. The pay band is between 70,000–1,20,000.
UGC NET JRF SALARY STRUCTURE
Tenure of fellowship – Initially for 3 years.
The duration can be extended further for a period of three years if the research work done by any candidate is found satisfactory by the concerned department of the University/College.
NET JRF Scholarship Amount – INR 31,000 (for initial 2 years) and INR 35,000 (for remaining tenure).
Contingency for Humanities and Social Sciences – INR 10,000/- per annum for the initial two years and INR 20,500/- per annum for the remaining three years.
Contingency for Science – INR 12,000/- per annum for the initial two years and INR 25,000/- per annum for the remaining three years.
Escorts/Reader Assistance – INR 2,000/- per month in case of physically and visually challenged candidates.

The application process is online, Applicants who meet the eligibility criteria can fill out the application form. STEPS TO FILL UGC NET ONLINE APPLICATION FORM
1. Registration: For UGC NET registrations, candidates first need to visit the official website of the exam. Thereafter, candidates need to click on Fill Application Form UGC NET button available at the bottom of the page.
2. Filling up the application form: Candidates need to fill their personal, academic, and contact details in the UGC NET application form and note down system-generated application numbers. They also have to create a password that will be used for future logins. Below are the details that the candidates should fill in the application form.
1. Exam - Choice of paper - 1 or 2 or both. Candidates must also select the preference of exam language in which they want to appear
2. Personal - Here candidates have to provide name, category, father's and mother's name, etc.
3. Communication - Candidates have to provide their residential and correspondence details.
4. Choose Password - Enter the password and confirm the same.
5. Security - Candidates have to enter security Q and A for further login on the website.

Upload Scanned Photo & Signature : Please refer to Image Upload Instructions available at the end of the information bulletin for details of specifications for uploading photographs, signatures, and thumb impressions. Images that are not as per prescribed specification shall not be considered and may lead to rejection of the application.It is important for the candidates to upload the documents as specified by the NTA. 4. Choose your Test City Pay the Examination Fee: While applying, candidates have to select any four cities of their choice. The efforts will be made to allot the city of examination to the candidates in order of choice opted by them in their online Application Form. However, due to administrative/logistic reasons, a different city can be allotted. The candidates can pay the application fees in online mode only. For online payment, candidates can pay through Credit Card/ Debit Card/ Net Banking/Paytm/UPI.

5. Print the Confirmation page: The last step is to take four printouts of the confirmation page, after successful payment of UGC NET application fees. Candidates must keep this acknowledgment page till the admission process is over.
