The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the postponement of the UGC NET December 2024 exam scheduled for January 15, 2025. Candidates planning to take the exam can find the official notification on the UGC NET website. The decision to delay the exam was made after NTA received requests to reschedule it due to the overlap with the Pongal, Makar Sankranti, and other festivals.

The exam originally set for January 15 has been postponed, and a new date will be provided in due course. According to the official statement, "The National Testing Agency has received representation to postpone the UGC-NET December 2024 examination on account of the festivals of Pongal, Makar Sankranti, and others on 15th January 2025. In the interest of the candidates, the NTA has decided to postpone only the UGC-NET December 2024 exam scheduled for 15th January 2025. The new exam date will be announced later."

The exam scheduled for January 16, 2025, will proceed as originally planned. The UGC NET December 2024 exams began on January 3 and will conclude on January 16, 2025. The test is conducted for 85 subjects via Computer-Based Test (CBT) in two shifts: the first shift from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and the second shift from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. The exam consists of two sections, both of which contain objective-type, multiple-choice questions. There will be no break between the sections. The question paper will be available in English and Hindi, except for language-specific papers.
