Railway JE Examination Stage- I will be conducted as a Computer Based Test and is common for all notified posts. It will consist of a total 100 Questions and 100 Marks (1 Mark for each question). Total duration of the examination is 90 minutes and 120 minutes for PwBD candidates who avail the Scribe facility.

Medium of Examination:

1. English is the default language.

3. The languages listed are:  Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Konkani, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu.

4. In case of any difference / discrepancy / dispute in the Questions between English and the opted language, the content of the English version shall prevail.

4. The normalized score of Stage- I CBT shall be used for shortlisting of candidates for Stage- II CBT as per their merit.

Normalization of Marks

Shortlisting of Candidates for various stages shall be based on the normalized marks obtained by them whenever CBT is conducted in multiple sessions for the same syllabus.

Calculation of normalised marks for Multi- Sessional Papers

The Stage- I CBT examination may have to be conducted in multiple sessions for some post For these multisession papers, a suitable normalisation is applied to take into account any variation in the difficulty levels of the question papers across different sessions. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

Candidates willing to apply for RAILWAY JE exam are required to fulfil certain conditions to be eligible for the RAILWAY JE exam. The candidate who does not satisfy the Eligibility criteria like Age, Minimum educational qualification, Nationality, etc., shall be rejected by the authorities. A candidate must be either:

A citizen of India, or

Age Limit:

The age limit of the candidates who are applying for RAILWAY JE must be between 18 TO 33 years of age. Although there will be age relaxations for the reserved categories.

Those awaiting results of the final examination of the prescribed educational / technical qualification not apply.

NOTE-
A candidate possessing more than one minimum educational qualification, mapped to different Exam Groups, can choose any one Exam Group. These candidates would be eligible for all the posts for which they possess minimum educational qualifications.

Medical Standerd:

Candidates called for DV will have to pass a requisite medical fitness test(s) conducted by the Railway Administration to ensure that the candidates are medically fit to carry out the duties connected with the post(s) opted by them. Visual Acuity Standard is one of the important criteria of medical fitness of railway staff. The medical requirements against different Medical Standards for different categories are outlined below:

NOTE-

1. The above Medical Standards are indicative and not exhaustive and apply to candidates in general.

2. Candidates who have undergone Lasik surgery or any other surgery procedure to correct refractory error are not eligible for the post having Medical Standards A3, B1 and B2.

Minimum Percentage of marks:

Minimum percentage of marks for eligibility in various categories:

SC - 30%,

ST - 25%. 

This percentage of marks for eligibility may be relaxed by 2% for PwBD candidates in case of a shortage of PwBD candidates against vacancies reserved for them.

2. Clear Your Basics - Make sure to clear all the basics of each topic first.

3. Prepare Self Notes - Try to make your own notes which will help you to revise quickly. If not possible try to highlight the key points.

5. Solve Examples - Examples must be solved first in your preparation. 

6. Practice Papers- You must practice diligently and be in a position to answer any type of questions asked from any topic.

Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has Released Notification on 30 July 2024 For the Recruitment of RRB JE with the Aim of filling 7,951 Vacancies for Junior Engineer, Depot Material Superintendent, Chemical & Metallurgical Assistant, Chemical Supervisor / Research and Metallurgical Supervisor / Research. Online Application Started on 30 July 2024 and last date of Application was 29 August 2024. Now RRB Will conduct CBT- I from 13 to 17 December 2024, exam city will be released before 10 Days of CBT- I and candidates can download the Admit Card 4 days before CBT- I.

Job Profile & Responsbilities:

The candidates will be given the roles and responsibilities for the post of RRB JE as per their educational qualifications. The post - wise RRB JE job profile is given below. 

RRB JE Civil Engineer:

1. The candidate who will be selected as an RRB Civil JE will work as a supervisor in the civil engineering department. In other words, they can be called as Inspector of works / Incharge of tracks.

2. These civil engineers are responsible for the maintenance and construction of Railway buildings including staff quarters, water supply to these buildings, encroachment of railway land, etc.

3. He also holds charge of periodical and accounting verification of stores and tools. They have to ensure that the railway track is maintained in a better way of allowing safe, smooth and fast movements of trains.

4. Along with all this, the job profile of JE in the civil department also includes the maintenance of the bridge, workshop, construction in the railway division. And prepare the estimation, drawing of work that need to be put for full platform readiness.

RRB JE Electrical Engineer:

1. The candidate selected as a JE in RRB Electrical is responsible for the maintenance of electric locomotive, equipment overhead and traction (i.e. control the speed at which the drive wheels spins) distribution, lighting & air conditioning (AC) of the train, power supply, safety system etc.

2. Monitoring & maintaining valuable equipment like overhead (OHE), substations (PS) which are indulged in the shifting of rolling stock.

3. Produce and safeguard the main line EMUs (MEMUs), and Electric Locomotives.

RRB JE Electronics Engineer:

The RRB ETE JE holds the responsibilities of overseeing the signalling installation of the stations, finalizing the proposal for work budget, revenue, & periodic review.

RRB JE Mechanical Engineer:

The responsibilities of RRB ME JE is to check the conditions of the components of goods wagons and passengers coaches and makes a defect - freerolling stock i.e. diesel.
