Analysis
EXAM ANALYSIS
The exam analysis I shared earlier is based on the latest available trends from the INI?CET July 2025 session (the exam conducted for January/July 2026 admissions).
1. Difficulty Level
Overall: Moderate to Difficult
Compared to NEET-PG: Slightly tougher for clinical reasoning and emergency management questions
Non-clinical (pre-clinical + para-clinical): Moderate, mostly recall-based
2. Section-wise Analysis
A. Pre-clinical & Para-clinical (20–25%)
Mostly theory-based MCQs
Key subjects: Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pathology, Pharmacology, Microbiology, Forensic Medicine
Tricky topics: Embryology, Biochemistry pathways, Microbiology bug-drug matching
B. Clinical Subjects (70–75%)
Dominant portion of the paper
Questions are often case-based or scenario-based, testing clinical reasoning
High-yield subjects: Medicine, Surgery, Pediatrics, OBG, Orthopedics, ENT, Ophthalmology, Anesthesia, Radiology, Dermatology, Psychiatry
Trends:
1–2 questions per case scenario
Guidelines, ICU protocols, emergency management, investigations
C. Dental / Non-Clinical (5–10%)
For MDS aspirants or para-clinical students
Focus on oral pathology, dental materials, prosthodontics
3. Marking & Strategy
Correct = +1, Incorrect = –1/3
Negative marking requires careful elimination
Do not guess blindly, only attempt if you can eliminate options
4. Time Management
200 questions in 180 minutes ? ~55 seconds per question
Suggested strategy:
Clinical questions first
Pre-clinical next
Attempt dental / other non-clinical at the end
5. Cutoff Trends
General category: Top ranks usually required for high-demand branches
Medicine, Surgery, Radiology ? Top 50–200 ranks
Non-clinical / dental ? Rank 500+ may get a seat
6. Key Observations
Case-based reasoning is increasing every year
Memory-based recall dominates only in pre-clinical subjects
Time management and smart elimination are crucial
AIIMS often mixes national guidelines + recent updates

STUDY PLANS
Here is a realistic and effective study plan for INICET (AIIMS PG entrance) preparation in 3 months and 6 months. INICET is a highly competitive exam with 200 MCQs (mostly clinical/image-based, one correct answer, negative marking), covering 19 MBBS subjects. High-weightage subjects include:
Medicine (~20–25 questions)
Surgery (~20–25)
Pathology (~15–20)
Pharmacology (~15–20)
OBG (~12–15)
PSM (~12–15)
Pediatrics (~10)
Short subjects (Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Forensic, Ortho, ENT, Ophtha, Dermatology, Psychiatry, Radiology) — collectively significant with image-based questions.
Focus on high-yield topics, PYQs (previous INICET/INI-SS papers), image-based questions, and clinical vignettes. Use standard resources like Marrow/Prepladder/DAMS notes + Q-banks, Ananthanarayan (Micro), Robbins (Patho), Harrison (Medicine snippets), Bailey & Love (Surgery), etc.
General Rules for Both Plans
Study 10–14 hours/day (quality > quantity; include breaks).
Daily: 60–70% new learning/revision + 30–40% MCQs/PYQs.
Weekly: 1 full mock + analysis (aim 2–3 mocks/week in last phase).
Revise volatile subjects frequently (Patho, Pharma, Medicine).
Make micro-notes/flashcards for quick recall.
Sleep 6–7 hours, exercise, avoid burnout.
3-Month Study Plan (Intensive – Ideal if you have some base)
Phase 1: Days 1–60 (Build & Strengthen – ~2 months)
Cover all 19 subjects once (focus on high-yield + concepts).
Prioritize order: Medicine ? Surgery ? OBG ? Patho ? Pharma ? PSM ? Peds ? Short subjects.
Daily routine: 8–10 hours subject study + 2–3 hours MCQs (subject-wise Q-bank + PYQs).
Finish weak subjects first if short on time.
Target: Complete first reading + basic MCQ exposure by end of Month 2.
Phase 2: Days 61–80 (First Full Revision + Active Recall)
Revise all subjects using quick notes/flashcards.
Focus on high-yield + image-based + repeated PYQs.
Daily: 6–8 hours revision + 4 hours mixed MCQs.
Attempt 1 subject-wise test every 3–4 days.
Phase 3: Days 81–90 (Final Boost + Sprint)
2–3 full-length INICET mocks/week (simulate exam timing).
Deep analysis of mistakes + revise weak areas only.
Last 10–15 days: Only revision + PYQs + high-yield images/clinicals.
Avoid new topics; focus on retention.
Many have cracked top ranks (e.g., AIR <100) in 3 months with focused MCQ practice + revision if they had some base from internship/NEET-PG prep.
6-Month Study Plan (Balanced – Recommended for most, especially from low base)
Month 1–3 (Foundation – First Pass)
Complete all 19 subjects once (thorough understanding).
Order: Start with volatile/high-weightage ? short subjects.
Month 1: Pre/Para-clinical + Pharma + Patho.
Month 2: Medicine + Surgery + OBG + PSM.
Month 3: Peds + Ortho + ENT/Ophtha + remaining shorts.
Daily: 8–10 hours theory + 2–4 hours MCQs (start slow, increase).
Make concise notes for each subject.
Weekly 1 grand test from Month 2 end.
Month 4 (Intensive Practice & First Revision)
First full revision of all subjects (faster pace).
Heavy MCQ practice (200–300/day mixed).
Focus on PYQs + image-based questions.
1–2 full mocks/week + detailed analysis.
Month 5 (Consolidation & Second Revision)
Second revision (only notes + high-yield).
Target weak subjects twice.
2–3 mocks/week.
Build stamina for 3-hour exam.
Month 6 (Peak & Final Sprint)
Third quick revision (flashcards + micro-notes).
Daily mocks/alternating subject tests.
Last 15–20 days: Only revision + error correction + relaxation technique

4. Time Management : Preparing for a test without timely administration is useless. Applicants should develop an appropriate timetable that covers all topics that come with the entrance test. Time should be handled by students in such a way that each topic of the program is followed before the examination.
5. Notes Preparation : Students who will be preparing for the examination should write down all the important points in one place. Selected notes should be short and clear. This will help the candidates to read all the important points during the review.
6. Short but frequent breaks :- The boring method of reading has never benefited the student. They should take short breaks between their study hours. These breaks will help to refresh the baptismal candidates and will help the baptismal candidates to continue learning in a new way.
7. Solving & Analyzing Mock Test :- Applicants should try out online or offline humorous tests. In this way, candidates will be able to evaluate their level of readiness and improve. Also, they will improve with their speed and accuracy.

10. Regular Practice :- Applicants should practice regular examinations. Without practice, preparation is nothing. Applicants should focus on their high performance in weak subjects. And there should be a reasonable amount of time between practice.
STUDY PLANS
Here is a realistic and effective study plan for INICET (AIIMS PG entrance) preparation in 3 months and 6 months. INICET is a highly competitive exam with 200 MCQs (mostly clinical/image-based, one correct answer, negative marking), covering 19 MBBS subjects. High-weightage subjects include:
Medicine (~20–25 questions)
Surgery (~20–25)
Pathology (~15–20)
Pharmacology (~15–20)
OBG (~12–15)
PSM (~12–15)
Pediatrics (~10)
Short subjects (Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Forensic, Ortho, ENT, Ophtha, Dermatology, Psychiatry, Radiology) — collectively significant with image-based questions.
Focus on high-yield topics, PYQs (previous INICET/INI-SS papers), image-based questions, and clinical vignettes. Use standard resources like Marrow/Prepladder/DAMS notes + Q-banks, Ananthanarayan (Micro), Robbins (Patho), Harrison (Medicine snippets), Bailey & Love (Surgery), etc.
General Rules for Both Plans
Study 10–14 hours/day (quality > quantity; include breaks).
Daily: 60–70% new learning/revision + 30–40% MCQs/PYQs.
Weekly: 1 full mock + analysis (aim 2–3 mocks/week in last phase).
Revise volatile subjects frequently (Patho, Pharma, Medicine).
Make micro-notes/flashcards for quick recall.
Sleep 6–7 hours, exercise, avoid burnout.
3-Month Study Plan (Intensive – Ideal if you have some base)
Phase 1: Days 1–60 (Build & Strengthen – ~2 months)
Cover all 19 subjects once (focus on high-yield + concepts).
Prioritize order: Medicine ? Surgery ? OBG ? Patho ? Pharma ? PSM ? Peds ? Short subjects.
Daily routine: 8–10 hours subject study + 2–3 hours MCQs (subject-wise Q-bank + PYQs).
Finish weak subjects first if short on time.
Target: Complete first reading + basic MCQ exposure by end of Month 2.
Phase 2: Days 61–80 (First Full Revision + Active Recall)
Revise all subjects using quick notes/flashcards.
Focus on high-yield + image-based + repeated PYQs.
Daily: 6–8 hours revision + 4 hours mixed MCQs.
Attempt 1 subject-wise test every 3–4 days.
Phase 3: Days 81–90 (Final Boost + Sprint)
2–3 full-length INICET mocks/week (simulate exam timing).
Deep analysis of mistakes + revise weak areas only.
Last 10–15 days: Only revision + PYQs + high-yield images/clinicals.
Avoid new topics; focus on retention.
Many have cracked top ranks (e.g., AIR <100) in 3 months with focused MCQ practice + revision if they had some base from internship/NEET-PG prep.
6-Month Study Plan (Balanced – Recommended for most, especially from low base)
Month 1–3 (Foundation – First Pass)
Complete all 19 subjects once (thorough understanding).
Order: Start with volatile/high-weightage ? short subjects.
Month 1: Pre/Para-clinical + Pharma + Patho.
Month 2: Medicine + Surgery + OBG + PSM.
Month 3: Peds + Ortho + ENT/Ophtha + remaining shorts.
Daily: 8–10 hours theory + 2–4 hours MCQs (start slow, increase).
Make concise notes for each subject.
Weekly 1 grand test from Month 2 end.
Month 4 (Intensive Practice & First Revision)
First full revision of all subjects (faster pace).
Heavy MCQ practice (200–300/day mixed).
Focus on PYQs + image-based questions.
1–2 full mocks/week + detailed analysis.
Month 5 (Consolidation & Second Revision)
Second revision (only notes + high-yield).
Target weak subjects twice.
2–3 mocks/week.
Build stamina for 3-hour exam.
Month 6 (Peak & Final Sprint)
Third quick revision (flashcards + micro-notes).
Daily mocks/alternating subject tests.
Last 15–20 days: Only revision + error correction + relaxation techniques.
Focus 80% on clinical subjects + images.

SELECTION PROCESS
The selection process for AIIMS PG INICET (Institute of National Importance Combined Entrance Test) is a centralized, merit-based admission system conducted by AIIMS New Delhi for postgraduate courses (MD, MS, MDS, DM/MCh 6-year courses) across Institutes of National Importance (INIs). These include AIIMS New Delhi and other AIIMS campuses, JIPMER Puducherry, PGIMER Chandigarh, NIMHANS Bengaluru, and SCTIMST Trivandrum.
The process is uniform and follows the official prospectus (Part A and Part B) released by AIIMS. Here's a clear breakdown of the current/lates selection process (based on recent sessions like January/July 2025-2026 patterns, which remain consistent):
1. Eligibility Criteria
MBBS/BDS degree from an NMC/MCI-recognized institution.
Completion of 12-month compulsory rotatory internship by the specified cutoff date (e.g., 31st December for January session, 30th June/31st July for July session).
Minimum aggregate marks in MBBS: 55% for UR/EWS/OBC, 50% for SC/ST (relaxations apply).
Valid registration with NMC/State Medical Council.
Age limits: Generally no upper age limit for most categories, but some institutes (e.g., NIMHANS, SCTIMST) may have specific limits (e.g., 37 years in certain cases).
Additional for sponsored/foreign nationals: NOC from relevant authorities.
2. Entrance Exam (INI-CET)
Mode: Computer-Based Test (CBT), single shift.
Duration: 3 hours (180 minutes).
Questions: 200 objective-type (mostly single correct choice; some multiple correct in older patterns, but primarily single-best-answer now).
Marking: +1 for correct, -1/3 for incorrect, 0 for unanswered/marked for review.
Syllabus: Covers all 19 MBBS subjects, with emphasis on clinical, image-based, and high-yield topics (Medicine, Surgery, Pathology, etc.).
Qualifying Cutoff: Percentile-based (typically 50th percentile for UR/EWS/Sponsored/Foreign; lower for reserved categories as per rules).
Results include raw scores, percentiles, and merit rank. Percentile determines eligibility for seat allocation.
3. Counselling & Seat Allocation
Conducted online by AIIMS New Delhi after result declaration. It's centralized and merit-cum-choice based.
Typical rounds (may vary slightly per session):
Mock Round: Practice round for choice filling and tentative allotment (non-binding).
Round 1: Choice filling ? Seat allotment ? Acceptance & reporting (join or float).
Round 2: For floated/vacant seats.
Open Round (if needed): For remaining seats; often includes security deposit rules.
Additional/Spot Rounds (if seats remain vacant).
Key steps in counselling:
Register on the official portal (aiimsexams.ac.in).
Fill and lock preferences (institute + specialty/course).
Seat allotment based on: INI-CET rank, category, choices filled, reservation roster, seat matrix.
Accept allotted seat (pay fees/security deposit if required), report to institute with documents.
Float option available in early rounds for better choices in subsequent rounds.
Strict deadlines; missing them leads to forfeiture.
Reservation:
As per Govt. of India rules: SC/ST/OBC (NCL), EWS, PwBD (5% horizontal).
No reservation in super-specialty courses in some institutes.
Sponsored/Foreign seats separate.
Seat Matrix: Varies per session (~800–1300+ total seats across INIs for MD/MS/MDS). AIIMS New Delhi has the highest number, followed by others. Detailed matrix released with notification/prospectus.
4. Post-Allocation
Report to allotted institute with originals for verification.
Pay fees and join by last date (e.g., courses start 1st January/July; last admission ~February/August).
Waitlist movement possible if someone doesn't join.
