EXAM ANALYSIS
Last Conducted SSC CPO (SI/ASI) Exam – 2025 Cycle
The Sub-Inspector in Delhi Police and CAPFs & ASI in CISF Examination (often referred to as SSC CPO) for the 2025 cycle was organized by the Staff Selection Commission.
The online application for this recruitment in 2025 was open from 26 September to 16 October 2025. The Computer Based Paper I examinations were conducted from 9 to 12 December 2025 for eligible applicants.
Candidates had the option to select their exam city and date (self-slot selection) during the slot booking window, giving them flexibility in choosing when and where they would appear within the designated exam period.
After Paper I, qualified candidates were shortlisted for the physical stages and later for Paper II, with official results of Paper II for the 2024 cycle declared in August 2025.
Dates, Timing & Shift Structure
Paper I (2025 Cycle)
The Computer Based Examination (Paper I) was held between 9 – 12 December 2025 over multiple days.
Unlike fixed single-day tests, SSC CPO Paper I is conducted across several days because of the large number of applicants. The self-slot selection facility allowed candidates to choose their exam date and often their shift within that period.
For Paper I, typical SSC exam timings (based on past patterns and admit card schedules) were in multiple sessions such as morning and afternoon, usually spanning a two-hour window per shift. For example, earlier shifts in similar SSC exams have run from around 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
Paper II (2025 Cycle)
Once Paper I results were declared, eligible candidates were invited for Paper II, which for the 2024/25 cycle was conducted on 8 March 2025 for additional candidates.
Paper II typically runs in a single extended session of 2 hours. In the revision notice for additional candidates, SSC changed the Paper II timing to 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM for some candidates.
Exam Pattern (2025 Cycle)
The SSC CPO (SI/ASI) selection comprises Paper I, Physical Standard & Endurance Test, Paper II, and Detailed Medical Examination, in that sequence.
Paper I (CBT) consists of four sections with a total of 200 marks in a 2-hour duration. Questions are objective and cover:
General Intelligence & Reasoning
General Knowledge & General Awareness
Quantitative Aptitude
English Comprehension
The questions are bilingual (Hindi & English) with negative marking.
Paper II (CBT) focuses solely on English Language & Comprehension, with 200 marks and a 2-hour duration. There is also negative marking and this paper tests deeper language comprehension and grammar skills relevant to law enforcement roles.
Between Paper I and Paper II, candidates must also clear the Physical Endurance Test (PET) / Physical Standard Test (PST) stages which are qualifying in nature.
Difficulty Level – 2025 Cycle
Paper I Difficulty:
General feedback from mock discussions and aspirant experience shows the SI Paper I is typically of moderate difficulty. Verbal sections such as English and GK are scoring for well-prepared candidates, while reasoning and quantitative aptitude range from easy to moderate complexity.
General Intelligence and Reasoning often include puzzles, non-verbal reasoning, and logical questions. Quantitative sections test arithmetic, algebra, and data interpretation skills. English and General Knowledge test reading comprehension, grammar, current events and static GK.
Paper II Difficulty:
Paper II tends to be more challenging because it focuses only on English language comprehension and usage, with passages and questions testing deeper understanding of grammar rules, inference, and contextual usage.
Due to the narrowed focus, many candidates spend additional preparation time specifically on comprehension, cloze tests, para jumbles, and error-spotting to score well in Paper II.
Cut-Off Trends
From the SSC CPO 2025 final results and cut-off patterns:
• In the 2025 cycle, final revised results showed that a total of 5,296 candidates were recommended for SI and related positions in Delhi Police and CAPFs combined. Study patterns indicate that the cut-off for first Paper I and progression to Paper II was competitive, especially for Delhi Police SI.
• Based on expert analysis, aspirants targeting the 2026 exam should aim high. For example, considering recent trends, achieving scores significantly above previous cut-offs is often necessary due to increased competition. For Delhi Police SI, aiming for a strong buffer above the prior cut-off (e.g., 345–355+ out of 400 estimated) is recommended. For CAPFs SI, target scores above 300–310+ generally improve chances.
• Female categories and certain CAPF posts may have slightly lower final cut-offs, but overall competition remains high due to a large number of applicants and limited vacancies.
Expectations for SSC SI/ASI Exam 2026
According to the latest exam planning cycle (tentative SSC calendar for 2026–27), the notification for Delhi Police & CAPFs SI / CISF ASI recruitment is likely to be released in May 2026, with applications accepted until June and the exam expected around October–November 2026.
The self-slot selection process for exam city and shift that was introduced in the 2025 cycle is expected to continue for 2026, giving candidates some choice in scheduling within the exam window.
Based on past patterns, the difficulty level for Paper I is expected to range from moderate to somewhat challenging in some shifts, with Paper II focusing mainly on language skills and candidates needing good preparation in English grammar and comprehension.
Cut-offs for 2026 will vary depending on vacancy announcements, number of applicants, and test difficulty; however, aspirants should target scores comfortably above previous cycles to remain competitive.
Summary – Key Takeaways
The latest SSC CPO (SI & ASI) Paper I was held from December 9–12, 2025, in multiple shifts.
Candidates were allowed to choose their exam date/city via a self-slot selection process.
Paper II for the 2025 cycle was conducted on March 8, 2025 for additional candidates.
The pattern includes two objective papers and qualifying physical tests.
Difficulty ranges from moderate (Paper I) to moderate-high (Paper II).
Cut-offs are competitive, with candidates needing strong performance in both papers to secure final selection.
For 2026, the exam is expected around October–November, and candidates should prepare accordingly.
