Format
EXAM PATTERN
‘Computer Based Online test’ means the candidate sits in front of a computer and the questions are presented on the computer monitor and the candidate answers the questions on the computer by using a keyboard or mouse. Each computer is connected to a server, which prepares the question set and delivers it to the candidate on the computer. This is unlike the traditional paper-pencil-based test, which is generally offered on a single day to all candidates. Salient features of BITSAT are given below:

1- There is no time limit for individual parts of the test. The candidate can go back and change any of his/her answers to the 130 questions.
2- If a candidate answers all the 130 questions (without skipping any question), the candidate will have an option of attempting 12 (twelve) extra questions, if there is still time left. These extra questions will be from Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology, and Logical reasoning only; three questions from each of them. Further, once the candidate has opted for extra questions, he/she cannot go back for correction of any of the earlier answered 130 questions.
3- The questions are so designed that a good student will be able to answer 130 questions in 180 minutes. The extra questions (a maximum of 12) will give a chance to highly meritorious candidates to score higher. However, candidates should keep in mind the fact that there is negative marking for wrong answers and any attempt to answer the questions by pure guessing of the answers is not likely to have any advantage, but may result in a reduction in the total score.
4- The questions will be selected at random from a large question bank. Different candidates will get different question sets. An expert committee will ensure that the question sets are of comparable difficulty IV level, content, question type etc. In this matter, the decision of the expert committee will be final and binding on the candidate.

The BITSAT examination is conducted as an Online computer based test. The questions asked are of Objective type multiple choice in nature.
Medium of Examination
All the questions and instructions of the test will be in English only. Candidates should bring a pen for the purpose of rough work, signing etc. Blank sheets for rough work will be provided, if required. Calculators and logarithmic tables are not allowed in the test centers. Candidates are not allowed to bring any other personal belongings such as mobiles.

Candidates intending to appear for BITSAT 2026 must meet the prescribed eligibility requirements. The BITSAT 2026 eligibility criteria include conditions related to educational qualifications and age. The detailed eligibility requirements are outlined below.
Nationality
Indian citizens (including those residing in India or abroad).
Non-Resident Indians (NRIs).
Overseas Citizens of India (OCI card holders).
Foreign nationals (with a passport other than Indian).
Age Limit
There is no age limit for BITSAT.
Education Qualification
B.E. (Except B.E. Environmental and Sustainability Engg.), and M.Sc. Programmes:
Candidates must have completed their 12th-grade examination under the 10+2 system from a recognized Central or State board or an equivalent qualification.
A minimum of five subjects is required, including Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, one Language, and any additional subject beyond these four.
Candidates must secure:
An aggregate of 75% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, and At least 60% marks in each of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics individually. Both theory and practical components must be considered while calculating percentages.
B.Pharm., and B.E. Environmental and Sustainability Engg. Programme *
Candidates must have completed their 12th-grade examination under the 10+2 system from a recognized Central or State board or an equivalent qualification. A minimum of five subjects is required, including Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Mathematics, one Language, and any additional subject beyond these four.
Candidates must secure:
An aggregate of 75% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Mathematics, andAt least 60% marks in each of Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Mathematics individually. Both theory and practical components must be considered while calculating percentages.
Students entering through the PCB stream at the 10+2 level should possess mathematics proficiency at the high school (Class 10) level.
Admissions to all the programmes are subject to the conditions given below:
Students who are appearing for the 12th examination in 2026 or who have passed the 12th Examination in 2025 are eligible to appear in the BITSAT-2026. If a candidate has taken more than one attempt in the 12th class or its equivalent, only his/her latest performance is considered. Additionally, the candidates must meet the following conditions:
Students must appear for their 12th-grade examination for the first time in 2025 or 2026, with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology as compulsory subjects, provided their results are available by the submission deadline (June 01, 2026), as specified on the admissions portal.
OR
Students who completed their 12th-grade examination in 2025 may reappear for improvement exams in specific subject(s). The results of these improvements must be available by the submission deadline (June 01, 2026), as specified on the admissions portal.
OR
In all the above cases, the candidates' "Pass" status must remain unchanged after taking the improvement exam or repeating Grade 12.
Special Provisions
Direct Admission for Board Toppers: First-rank holders (PCM or PCB stream) from recognized Indian central/state boards (2026 results) get direct admission to preferred programme (subject to minimum PCM/PCB marks above). PCM toppers eligible for any programme; PCB toppers limited to B.Pharm. or B.E. Environmental & Sustainability Engineering. (Apply separately via portal if eligible; limited to one per board, with tie-breakers if needed.
Direct Admission to Boards Toppers
First rank students of all the central and state boards in India will be given direct admission to the program of their choice, irrespective of their BITSAT score as per the eligibility criteria mentioned above. Further details about this scheme will be available at BITS admission website.

Analysis
EXAM ANALYSIS
BITSAT UG 2026 was conducted in two sessions through a computer-based test. The analysis below is based on student feedback, shift-wise paper reviews and expert analysis and covers the exam dates, shifts, section-wise difficulty, good attempts and overall difficulty level.
Session 1 – Exam Date & Shift
BITSAT 2026 Session 1 was conducted on April 15 and 16, 2026. Each day had two shifts: Shift 1 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and Shift 2 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

TOP COLLEGES & SEATS
The primary institutions accepting BITSAT scores are the BITS Pilani campuses—Pilani (Rajasthan), Goa, and Hyderabad—which are well known for strong placements in CSE and core engineering branches. While a few other institutions such as IIT Patna and NIIT University may consider similar entrance credentials, the BITS campuses remain the main and most prominent destinations through BITSAT.
BITSAT primarily grants admission to Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani campuses in India:
BITS Pilani (Pilani Campus, Rajasthan) — The flagship and most prestigious, established in 1964, ranked 11th in NIRF Engineering 2025, excellent for research, placements (avg. Rs. 18-30 LPA+), and core branches like CSE (highest cutoff).
BITS Pilani, K K Birla Goa Campus — Strong in tech/coding culture, good infrastructure, slightly lower cutoffs than Pilani, popular for CSE/ECE.
BITS Pilani, Hyderabad Campus — Modern facilities, growing reputation, offers B.Pharm alongside engineering, competitive for core branches.
These three Indian campuses (Pilani, Goa, Hyderabad) are the main ones accepting BITSAT scores for Integrated First Degree programs (B.E./B.Tech equivalent, B.Pharm, M.Sc.). Dubai Campus admits partly via BITSAT but focuses more on 12th marks/international criteria. No widespread acceptance in other colleges—primarily BITS system only (some mentions of NIIT University are outdated/limited).

Reliable education portals and analyses estimate the total UG seats through BITSAT to be around 3000 (may vary slightly year-to-year due to minor adjustments). This has increased gradually over time (e.g., earlier years were lower, around 2000–2500 in some reports).

BITS Pilani (Pilani campus): 1040–1045 seats (largest/oldest campus, highest share).
BITS Hyderabad: 1080 seats (often the highest in recent estimates).

1. Check Eligibility Before Applying
You must meet the basic eligibility criteria:
Passed Class 12 (or equivalent) in 2025 or appearing in 2026.
For B.E. & Integrated M.Sc: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics + English with 75% aggregate in PCM and 60% in each subject.
For B.Pharm: Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Maths + same % criteria.
Only candidates who meet these criteria within the BITS deadlines are eligible to apply

ADMIT CARD
For BITSAT 2026, the admit card (hall ticket) was released before each examination session. Candidates were required to download their hall ticket from the official BITS Pilani admission portal using their application credentials. The Session 1 examination was conducted on April 15–16, 2026, while the Session 2 examination was conducted on May 24–26, 2026.
How to download BITSAT admit card
Candidates can check and download their BITSAT 2026 admit card by following these steps:
1. Visit the official BITSAT admission portal.
2. Click on the “Download Hall Ticket/Admit Card” link.
3. Enter your application number and password.
4. Submit the details to log in.
5. The BITSAT 2026 Admit Card will appear on the screen.

EXAM RESULT
The BITSAT 2026 score is displayed immediately after the candidate completes the computer-based examination, so there is no separate fixed result declaration date for Session 1 or Session 2. The Session 1 examination was held on April 15–16, 2026, while Session 2 was held on May 24–26, 2026. For candidates appearing in both sessions, the higher of the two scores is considered for admission.
For admission to B.E., M.Sc. and B.Pharm. programmes, BITS Pilani released the results through multiple admission iterations (admit list/waitlist). The Iteration-9 result is the latest admission result currently available, released on August 27, 2026.

The BITSAT 2026 admission process for the First Degree programmes (B.E., M.Sc. and B.Pharm.) progressed through multiple admission iterations, with Iteration-9 announced on August 27, 2026. Counseling Process
The BITSAT 2026 counselling and admission process is conducted through an online admission preference and iteration system. Candidates who appeared for BITSAT 2026 and wish to seek admission to the First Degree programmes must submit the Admission Preference Form, providing their Class 12 marks and preferred programmes/campuses. For 2026, the preference form was available from April 27 to June 3, 2026, followed by an editing window on June 9–10, 2026.
After submission of the preference form, BITS Pilani prepares the merit list and allocates programmes based on the candidate's BITSAT score, programme preferences and availability of seats. The admission process is conducted through multiple iterations (admit list and waitlist). A candidate who receives an offer can accept it by paying the prescribed fee within the specified deadline. Candidates on the waitlist may receive an offer in a subsequent iteration if seats become available.
For BITSAT 2026, Iteration-I was announced on June 20, 2026, followed by further iterations. BITS Pilani subsequently announced Iteration-9 on August 27, 2026. Candidates selected in the later iterations were required to accept the offer and pay the applicable fees within the prescribed deadline.
