EXAM SYLLABUS
The AIIMS PG INI-CET consists of a total of 200 multiple-choice questions to be attempted in 3 hours in an online computer-based format. Each correct answer carries +1 mark, while an incorrect answer results in a deduction of one-third of a mark. The approximate weightage of questions is 20–25% from pre-clinical and para-clinical subjects, 70–75% from clinical subjects, and 5–10% from dental or other non-clinical areas.

Format
EXAM PATTERN
Examination for INI CET shall be held as a Computer-based Test of a total of 200 questions and 200 marks. The total time allotted for the exam shall be 180 minutes.

Note :- Questions will be based on Graduate level of concerned PG program.
Mode of Examination
The Examination for INI CET will be conducted as a Computer-based Test. The questions will contain both single correct choice and multiple correct choice type questions.
Medium of Examination
Questions shall be available in English only in INICET Examination.
Marking Scheme
For both Single Correct Choice & Multiple Correct Choice questions
1. For each correct answer, one mark will be awarded.
2. Negative marking of one-third marks shall be applicable for every wrong answer.
3. No marks will be deducted for questions left answered.
Minumum Percentile Cut-off
1. For Unreserved (UR) seats including Overseas Citizens of India (OCI), EWS and Sponsored/Deputed/Foreign Nationals will be 50th percentile.
2. For OBC, SC, ST, PwBD, and Bhutanese Nationals (PGI-Chandigarh only) seats will be 45th percentile.
Resolution of Tie Cases
In cases where more than one candidate secures equal MARKS, tie will be resolved by applying the following criteria sequentially,
1. less negative marks
2. Older by age.
Eligibility
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Candidates willing to apply for INI CET Examination are required to fulfill certain conditions to be eligible for it. The candidate who does not satisfy the Eligibility criteria like Age, Minimum educational qualification, etc., their candidature shall be rejected by the authorities. The criteria for eligibility INI CET are decided by the conduction body itself.
The candidate’s eligibility for INI CET Examination is based on the fulfillment of the following conditions :-

AGE LIMIT
AIIMS has not prescribed any maximum age limit for the candidates applying for INI CET Examination.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION & MINIMUM MARKS
For Indian National and OCI (Overseas Citizen of India) & Sponsored Candidates
Educational Qualification
A candidate must possess MBBS degree for MD/MS/DM-6yrs/MCH-6yrs and BDS degree for MDS courses of a University recognized by the National Medical Commission/Medical Council of India as notified by Govt. of India and Dental Council of India respectively and must have completed the required period of 12 months compulsory rotating Internship/Practical training.
Minimum Marks
The Indian National who has obtained an eligibility degree in India must have obtained a minimum of the following marks (aggregate of all professional MBBS/BDS professional examinations):
a) For candidates belonging to the SC/ST Categories 50% marks in aggregate
b) For all other categories including OBC/EWS Category 55% marks in aggregate

Note:- For Sponsored candidates, It is mandatory to upload a valid Sponsored certificates in the Completion of Application on or before closing dates. Candidates must have to submit an original sponsored certificate at the time of admission, failing which, their candidature will be canceled.
For Indian National graduated from Foreign Universities
Educational Qualification
For Indian National candidates who have graduated from foreign Universities, marks obtained in the FMGE (Foreign Medical Graduate Examination) conducted by the National Board of Examination (NBE), shall be considered in lieu of aggregate marks.
Minimum Marks
The Indian National who has obtained an eligibility degree in India must have obtained a minimum of the following marks (aggregate of all professional MBBS/BDS professional examinations):

Educational Qualification
Candidates are required to obtain a certificate of grading system from applicable Universities/Institutions to determine the value of grading in percentage. The marks calculated accordingly must be filled in the “Marks Column”
Minimum Marks
The eligibility of Foreign National applicants with respect to the minimum marks in aggregate in all the MBBS/BDS professional examinations will be 55% aggregate or equivalent.
Note :- The NOC obtained from Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India, should be submitted to the Examination Section on or before dates as mentioned in Important Dates Tab. Kindly note that no objection certificate obtained solely from the Ministry of External Affairs is NOT considered a valid NOC for INI-CET.

Analysis
EXAM ANALYSIS
The INI-CET July 2026 examination focused on conceptual clarity, clinical application, integrated knowledge and analytical skills. The question paper covered a wide range of topics, with several questions requiring candidates to apply their understanding and differentiate between closely related answer options.
Exam Date and Shift
The examination was conducted on 16 May 2026 in a single shift from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode. Candidates had to attempt 200 questions within 180 minutes.
Section-wise Analysis
Pre-Clinical: The pre-clinical section had a considerable representation, with questions testing conceptual clarity from subjects such as Anatomy, Physiology and Biochemistry. Several questions required understanding rather than direct recall.
Para-Clinical: The para-clinical portion was moderate to difficult, with questions involving integrated concepts and application-based understanding. Microbiology questions were reported to have a strong connection with previous-year themes.
Clinical: The clinical section was comparatively more challenging because of lengthy clinical scenarios, image-based questions and interdisciplinary concepts. Medicine, Surgery, Dermatology and Orthopaedics were among the areas highlighted by candidates.
Difficulty Level
The difficulty level was reported differently by candidates, but the overall paper was generally considered moderate to difficult. The major challenges were close options, conceptual questions, clinical scenarios, assertion-reason questions and time management.
Overall Difficulty Level
Overall, the INI-CET July 2026 paper was Moderate to Difficult. Although some candidates found it manageable and slightly easier than the previous November session, the clinical integration and confusing options made several questions challenging.
Good Attempts
Based on candidate feedback, many students attempted approximately 170–180 questions out of 200. Another student survey reported that 81% of respondents attempted between 151 and 200 questions, indicating a relatively high attempt rate despite the conceptual nature of the paper.
Key Takeaway
The paper rewarded candidates with strong conceptual clarity, clinical application skills and good time management. Candidates preparing for the next INI-CET should therefore focus on PYQs, integrated clinical questions, image-based questions and repeated revision rather than relying only on factual memorisation.

STUDY TIPS
Candidates preparing for INI-CET should follow a structured and consistent study plan covering the major subjects of the MBBS curriculum. Preparation should focus on conceptual understanding, clinical application, previous-year questions and regular revision rather than simply memorising facts. Since the examination is conducted in CBT mode and includes 200 questions to be attempted within 180 minutes, candidates should also develop speed and accuracy through regular timed practice. The official AIIMS prospectus confirms that the examination uses objective-type questions and includes negative marking, making careful question selection and accuracy important.
Some general tips for clearing INI CET Examination has been listed below:-
1. Be well Aware of Exam Pattern :- The candidates need to be well aware of the Exam pattern of the entrance test for the course they are desirous for. They should be well known with the marking scheme as well. It will make them aware of the Number of questions, time duration etc of the respective examination.
2. Complete knowledge of Syllabus :- The candidates must have full knowledge of the Syllabus of their respective examination. They should be well aware of topics asked under various subjects.
3. Preparation Strategy :- Applicants prior to commencing preparations should prepare a smart and effective entry-level testing strategy. Applicants should prepare a strategy in such a way that they will increase their chances of passing the entrance test with a good grade.
4. Time Management : Preparing for a test without timely administration is useless. Applicants should develop an appropriate timetable that covers all topics that come with the entrance test. Time should be handled by students in such a way that each topic of the program is followed before the examination.
5. Notes Preparation : Students who will be preparing for the examination should write down all the important points in one place. Selected notes should be short and clear. This will help the candidates to read all the important points during the review.
6. Short but frequent breaks :- The boring method of reading has never benefited the student. They should take short breaks between their study hours. These breaks will help to refresh the baptismal candidates and will help the baptismal candidates to continue learning in a new way.
7. Solving & Analyzing Mock Test :- Applicants should try out online or offline humorous tests. In this way, candidates will be able to evaluate their level of readiness and improve. Also, they will improve with their speed and accuracy.
8. Solving Previous Year Paper & Sample Paper :- Knowing the trends of the entry test, the best way to solve the sample papers or last year's papers. Also, by doing the paperwork from the previous year, the baptismal candidates will know the difficulty level of the test.
9. Be Confident & Positive in Approach :- Emerging students need to stay confident while preparing for INI CET 2022. Students should not feel stressed or discouraged before the entrance test. They need to stay positive and think positively.
10. Regular Practice :- Applicants should practice regular examinations. Without practice, preparation is nothing. Applicants should focus on their high performance in weak subjects. And there should be a reasonable amount of time between practice.

6-Month Study Plan
Month 1 – Build the Foundation
Begin with the major subjects and create a realistic daily timetable.
Focus on understanding basic concepts rather than completing topics quickly.
Study approximately 8–10 hours a day, depending on your individual capacity.
Make short notes of important concepts, clinical correlations, formulas and frequently confusing topics.
Start solving a small number of MCQs every day to develop question-solving habits.
Month 2 – Complete Major Subjects
Continue with the remaining major subjects and strengthen conceptual understanding.
Give special attention to Pathology, Pharmacology, Microbiology, Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynaecology and Paediatrics.
Practise subject-wise MCQs after completing each topic.
Review incorrect answers and maintain an error notebook.
Month 3 – Complete the First Reading
Complete the remaining subjects and ensure that the first reading of the syllabus is finished.
Start integrating pre-clinical, para-clinical and clinical concepts.

Identify weak subjects and allocate additional study time to them.
Month 4 – First Intensive Revision

OVERVIEW
The Institute of National Importance Combined Entrance Test (INI-CET) is a national-level entrance examination conducted by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, for admission to postgraduate medical and dental courses at participating Institutes of National Importance (INIs).
