About Course

Civil Engineering or CE is a professional engineering discipline that focuses on the layout, construction, and supervision of the physical and naturally constructed environment, including public assignments such as roads, bridges, canals, railways, etc. Candidates can pursue the CE course straight after completing their Class 10+2 or graduation or even post-graduation. The CE course relates to protecting the public and environmental health as well as improving existing infrastructure. Admission into CE courses is done on the basis of merit and entrance exams. Candidates who want to pursue the CE course should score at least 50% in the last qualifying exam with a subject combination of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Apart from the merit, candidates have to appear in entrance exams that include JEE Main, JEE Advanced, GATE, VITEEE, TS POLYCET, AP POLYCET, TS EAMCET, BITSAT, MHT CET, WBJEE, etc.

CE can be pursued online, as well as through distance education. Some of the top institutes that render CE courses in India are IIT Kharagpur, Jadavpur University, NIT Durgapur, IIEST Shibpur, Narula Institute of Technology, etc. The average course fee of a Civil Engineering course ranges from INR INR 6, 000 to INR 25,00,000.

Why Choose Course And Required Skills

When civil engineers are hired for a position, the human resources team is always after certain skills that the individuals must hold in order to get selected for the particular job role.

Skills:

Leadership Skills

Negotiating Skills

Team Player

Passion for Learning

Problem-Solving Skills

Ability to Visualize

Attention to Detail

Good Time Management

Let us look at each required skill set one by one to have a better understanding.

1. Technical Skills: The most important is technical skills. These are very crucial as civil engineering professionals need to have a substantial foundation of core subjects like mathematics and physics to determine and crack related situations.

2. Concentration on Details: With the task of encountering problematic circumstances and challenges, it's not only necessary to come up with the correct answer but to also pay concentration to the most diminutive of details that are not perceptible to the ordinary eye and see to it that the task is accomplished to the fullest capacity.

3. Creativity: This skill is very useful when it comes to Civil Engineering courses as many can accomplish the engineering process, but recruiters are looking out for those candidates who are outstanding with their innovative wrenches to the same geriatric basic structures.

4. Team Player: Civil engineering candidates are mandated to work in teams, and hence communication is a crucial factor that will administer collaboration. It is also important to put the team's goals above self-goals to acquire success as a team.

5. Ability to visualize: One of the rudimentary skills demanded to be a civil engineer is the ability to visualize as, without the skill, the comprehensive blueprint will not be transparent. Ultimately, the final plan will not be executed as per the blueprint. Consequently, the capability to picture the final configuration or output is necessary to strategize work to get it done as per a clear concept.

6. Analytical thinking: Civil engineering graduates continuously adjust little characteristics of a model or a framework that can, in turn, have huge consequences. Differentiating points, scrutinizing, and constructing and implementing solutions direct analytical consideration at each stage.
