Hence the students need to practice a lot on their speed and accuracy if they wish to ace the OJEE. If you come across a difficult question, you should not waste a lot of your time pondering upon it. Move on to the next one. The key to success in any entrance exam is revision. Devote enough time to revision and to brushing up on what you have already studied and ensure that all the formulae, theorems, etc. are on your tips.
Three Month Plan Study Plan
The best way to prepare for an exam is by dividing it into phases or parts. If you want to get a good score in Odisha Joint Entrance Test (OJEE) it is very important to start your preparations at least three months before the OJEE exam. Making an effective and strategic preparation schedule is crucial. With three months in hand for OJEE preparation, candidates must start working on their preparations now. Below are a few tips and tricks to make a phase-wise preparation strategy for the OJEE exam.
Phase I- Strategy
Every exam preparation must start with knowing the syllabus and exam pattern. OJEE is a time-based entrance exam, therefore, it is important to divide your preparation strategy in a way that you are able to cover the complete syllabus and at the same time have enough time at the end of this phase for revision. Candidates appearing for the OJEE exam must make a plan which will help them devote enough time to each section. Make short notes while preparing for the OJEE exam.
Phase II- Know the strengths and weaknesses
In the next phase of the OJEE preparation, it is important to be well-acquainted with the various topics and sub-topics. Choose the right study material for your preparations. Choosing the right study material that covers the entire syllabus is important. Start with the topics that you find the toughest and then move on to the easier ones. While you are preparing for your exam you will come across a lot of tips and tricks to solve difficult questions. Find different methods to solve a question to ensure accuracy. Brush up your basics and calculations and note down the formulae and theorems to memorise them. To ace the General Knowledge section and improve your vocabulary, make the newspaper your friend. By reading the newspaper daily and devoting at least an hour to reading the newspaper will keep you updated with the latest news, trends, current affairs, etc., and at the same time it will enrich your vocabulary.
Phase III- Practice and Revise
The last phase of OJEE preparation is revision. Every preparation is incomplete without the right amount of practice and revision. Give a minimum of 15-20 days to revision. Practicing mock tests and previous year's question papers will acquaint you with the exam pattern, improve your time management skills and help in identifying your strengths and weaknesses. Also, you will come across various types of questions and new tricks to solve all kinds of questions.
OJEE EXAMINATION: TIPS & TRICKS
1- Know the syllabus :- Familiarise yourself with the syllabus carefully as it plays a vital role in letting you know the important topics that carry maximum weightage. Once you are familiar with the syllabus, it will become much easier for you to understand how to prepare for JEE Main exam and plan your preparations further.
2- Make a realistic Time Table & Follow it rigorously :-The first step to success is a well-structured plan. Creating a realistic timetable will help you decide when and how much you should study in a day. Once you are done with preparing your timetable, make sure to stick to it. Divide the syllabus into equal sections and then prioritise the important topics. Set smaller and achievable goals like finishing studying a concept of chemistry in an hour- this will help you be on track, stay focused, and automatically fight any distractions.
3- Self Study is Important :- Self-study gives you a deeper understanding of the topic and generates doubts that can be clarified later. This is better than studying the entire syllabus a night before the exam and ending up with many more questions than answers.
4- Be Aware of the exam pattern :- It is good to have your exam format in your mind everytime, it helps to cover all the sections and prepare accordingly.
5- Learn to manage your time effectively :- While preparing for any competitive examination, you must maintain a balance between studies and other things. No matter how much effort you put in to prepare for the exam, if you don’t know how to utilise your time effectively and wisely, you will never be able to complete your syllabus on time.
6- Use of NCERT :- Always prefer quality over quantity. If you refer to too many books, it may lead to confusion, and you will end up losing your confidence. Always start with the NCERT books as these include all the essential concepts and formulas.
7- Choose the Right Books to Study :- Studying from the correct books holds a lot of significance since students cannot afford to waste their time preparing for inappropriate books or study material.
8- Solve Previous Year Papers & Mock Test :- Solving previous exam papers enhances you speed and accuracy to solve time-consuming questions. Besides, such test papers provide you with insights on what types of questions that might come in the exam, the difficulty level of those questions, and will boost your confidence. Taking mock tests regularly will help you identify your weak spots and optimise your study schedule and circumvent distractions. There are a lot of websites that offer free/paid mock tests for your target examination.
9- Always be curious to learn :- Never hesitate to ask questions from your teachers or peers whenever you feel stuck at solving a problem and get your doubts cleared then and there. If you find anything complicated, ask again and again. Asking questions will help you widen your knowledge and solve similar complex problems. Remember, you cannot solve problems if you just focus on mugging concepts.
10- Revise as much as you can :- The regular revision will increase your knowledge, retention, and understanding of the subject in the best way. It will give you momentum that will help you avoid forgetting the topics in the exam. Revise important concepts that you might have studied a while ago at least once in two weeks.
11- Have a positive attitude :- Having a positive attitude throughout the preparation period is important. Taking too much stress will also lead to a bad result and non-satisfactory performance in the exam.
