Visual communications designers are graphic designers who specialize in using various software applications and design tools to design 2D and 3D graphics, websites, banners, posters, books, leaflets, video films, etc. They can be referred to as storytellers who use design and visual appeal to tell the story of a product a concept or a brief and bring it to life. As a visual communications designer, you will have to work with different websites, color codes, graphic designing, etc, so that you can convey the message that your clients desire. In recent times, visual communication designers have taken part in complex animation programs as well as advanced graphics designing.
Key roles and responsibilities
Every Visual communications designer has to learn these basic tasks which include:
1. Create aesthetic designs that will match the requirements of the client.
2. Collaborating with the various departments in the office including the creative department, sales, and marketing department to create engaging visual product stories.
3. Managing and executing the visual asset product.
4. Interpreting the qualitative concepts and the quantitative data that has been acquired through market research and formulating a suitable design plan based on the interpretation.
5. Engaging in strategic planning with other designs to select the specific medium that will have the best appeal.
6. Meeting strict deadlines for events and generating concise and accurate estimates for project work.
7. Maintaining a close understanding of the industry, monitoring existing trends, and forecasting the design direction to keep the brand visuals and email templates innovative and current.
8. Establishing and executing photography guidelines to create interesting and clear product photography suitable for use in platforms like email, web, and apps.
9. Learning and growing the technical understanding of the field and understanding new methods to improve the brand visuals.
10. Maintain consistency with the product visuals and review the designs with the development team to ensure that consistency is maintained.

Career Entry Pathway
Class 10 all subjects as per the scheme of studies - Class 11-12 with any subject as per the scheme of studies - UG (Bachelor degree in Visual Communication/Gaming/Animation/Multimedia/ similar courses).
Once you’ve completed Class 10 all subjects as per the scheme of studies, you can pursue Class 11-12 with any subject as per the scheme of studies. You can then pursue any Bachelor's degree like a Bachelor of Science in Visual Communication /Animation/Multimedia, Bachelor of Arts in Visual Communication, or Bachelor of Design in Visual Communication wherein you’ll get a comprehensive insight into writing, graphic editing, film, photography, animation, design, etc.
Once you’ve completed Class 10 all subjects as per the scheme of studies, you can pursue Class 11-12 with any subject as per the scheme of studies. You can then pursue a Bachelor's degree in Visual Communication/Gaming/Animation/ Multimedia or a similar course. Then, you can move on to postgraduate degrees like Master of Science in Visual Communication/Animation/Multimedia, Master of Arts in Visual Communication, and Master of Design in Visual Communication wherein you will be taught specialized skills along with the practical application of theories.
Once you’ve completed Class 10 all subjects as per the scheme of studies, you can pursue Class 11-12 with any subject as per the scheme of studies. You can then get a Professional Diploma in Visual Communication for an integrated learning experience.

Undergraduate studies after school
To be eligible as a visual communication designer, you need an undergraduate degree. After high school, you can go for a graduate degree in any of the following fields:
1. Visual Communication Design / Graphic Design / Digital Design / Animation Design / Film and Video Communication / Film and Video Design, etc.
2. You can also opt for diploma courses after school such as Professional Diploma in Visual Communication.

Visual Communications designers generally work in their studio which has drafting tables, necessary software, computers, and all the other tools necessary for creating a design. They can also work with a design team. As a video communication designer, you will have the independence of working hours, though you can have workloads and deadlines to deal with. Plus, according to Alva, new software is being created to make the work of the visual communication designer easier and more refined.
