Description
The Maharashtra state government has announced a change in the schedule for the two-attempt Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MHT CET) 2027. According to the latest developments, both attempts are expected to be conducted between March and May 2027. The examinations were earlier planned for December 2026 and April 2027 for the upcoming academic year.

Why Was the MHT CET 2027 Schedule Changed?
The Maharashtra government initially planned to conduct the two MHT CET attempts in December 2026 and April 2027. However, feedback gathered from parents, education counsellors and educationists highlighted concerns about the proposed schedule.
Some parents and counsellors from districts such as Dharashiv, Nandurbar and Chandrapur reportedly requested that both attempts be conducted after the Class 12 board examinations. They argued that holding an entrance examination before the board exams could increase pressure on students.
After considering the feedback, the Higher and Technical Education Department decided against conducting the first attempt in December 2026. Both attempts are now expected to take place between March and May 2027. Candidates should wait for the official timetable to confirm the exact dates.
What Is the MHT CET Two-Attempt Examination?
The Maharashtra CET Cell introduced the two-attempt format for the MHT CET PCM and PCB examinations in 2026. The initiative aims to give candidates another opportunity to improve their entrance examination scores and reduce academic pressure.
Under this format, students can appear for both attempts if they wish to improve their performance. The better score out of the two attempts will be considered for admission purposes, according to the stated examination policy.
The two-attempt system is intended to provide students with greater flexibility while preparing for admission to undergraduate courses offered by colleges across Maharashtra. It also brings the examination structure closer to that of other national-level entrance examinations, such as JEE Main.
