The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has reopened the Resignation/Seat Withdrawal facility for candidates who were allotted seats in Round 1 and Round 2 of NEET UG Counselling 2026. The notice was issued on September 17, 2026, and the facility is available on the official MCC website, mcc.nic.in.

The facility is applicable to candidates who had accepted their allotted seats under the Freeze or Float category but now wish to resign or withdraw from the seat. Candidates should note that resignation within the specified period will result in forfeiture of the security deposit.

According to the MCC notice, Freeze and Float candidates who joined their Round 1 or Round 2 allotted seat and now wish to resign can do so within the specified deadline.

The resignation facility will remain open from 3:30 PM on September 17, 2026, to 6:00 PM on September 18, 2026.

The MCC has clarified that candidates who resign or withdraw their seats during this window will have to bear the forfeiture of their security deposit.

Instructions for Freeze Candidates

Candidates under the Freeze category who wish to resign or withdraw their allotted seat must:

• Physically report to the allotted institute.

• Submit their resignation or seat withdrawal request as instructed by the institute.

• Ensure that the resignation process is completed within the prescribed deadline.

• Obtain the required resignation confirmation or document.

Instructions for Float Candidates

Float candidates who have not been upgraded in the subsequent round can withdraw their Round 1 or Round 2 seat online.

Such candidates must:

• First visit the MCC official website.

• Log in to their candidate account.

• Select the seat resignation or withdrawal facility.

• Complete the required process.

• Generate the online Seat Withdrawal Slip.

• Keep the withdrawal slip safely for future reference.

The MCC has warned that failure to generate the online Seat Withdrawal Slip may result in the resignation being treated as null and void.

Important Points Regarding Seat Withdrawal

Candidates should carefully note the following instructions:

• Freeze candidates must physically report to the allotted institute for resignation.

• Float candidates who have not been upgraded should complete the withdrawal process through their MCC account.

• The resignation facility is available only within the specified time period.

• The security deposit will be forfeited after resignation or seat withdrawal.

• Candidates must generate the resignation letter or Seat Withdrawal Slip through the MCC portal.

• If the required document is not generated, the resignation may be treated as null and void.

• Once a seat is resigned or withdrawn, the candidate will have no further claim over that seat.
