The Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) have extended the registration deadline for the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2026. Candidates can now complete the CAT 2026 registration process until September 22, 2026, at 5 PM.

The registration window opened on August 3, 2026. The IIMs have advised candidates not to wait until the last date to submit their applications and fee. The authorities have also clarified that the September 22 deadline will not be extended further.

CAT 2026 will be conducted on November 29, 2026, in three sessions across test centres in around 170 cities in India.

CAT 2026 Exam Date and Pattern

CAT 2026 will be conducted on November 29, 2026, in three sessions. The examination will have a total duration of 120 minutes.

The CAT question paper will consist of three sections:

• Section I: Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC)

• Section II: Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR)

• Section III: Quantitative Ability (QA)

Candidates should prepare for all three sections and carefully follow the official examination instructions.

CAT 2026 Test Cities

The CAT 2026 examination will be conducted in around 170 cities across the country. Candidates can select up to five preferred test cities while filling out the application form.

The CAT authorities will try to allot an examination centre in one of the cities selected by the candidate. However, candidates may be allotted a centre near one of their preferred cities if there is high demand in a particular region.

Once a test centre has been allotted, candidates will not be permitted to change it. The list of CAT test cities may also be revised by the authorities depending on the prevailing circumstances.

CAT 2026 Application Form Edit Window

After the registration deadline, candidates who successfully complete their applications and pay the registration fee within the specified deadline will get an opportunity to edit selected details in their CAT 2026 application forms.

Candidates will be allowed to modify only the following details:

• Photograph

• Signature

• Test city preferences

No other application details will be available for editing through the edit window. Candidates should therefore carefully review their application form before submitting it.

Candidates appearing for CAT 2026 should keep the following points in mind:

• Complete the registration process before September 22, 2026, at 5 PM.

• Do not wait until the final hours to submit the application.

• Check all personal, academic and communication details before submitting the form.

• Select the test cities carefully as the allotted centre cannot be changed later.
