The Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell has made 550 MBBS and BDS seats available at three private medical institutions for CAP Round 2 of Maharashtra NEET UG Counselling 2026 for the academic year 2026-27.

The additional seats have been introduced following the recognition of Lata Mangeshkar University, Nagpur, and Dr Balasaheb Vikhe Patil University, Ahilyanagar, as private universities. The notification was issued by the State CET Cell from its Mumbai office on September 10, 2026.

Maharashtra NEET UG 2026: 550 New Seats Added

The newly available seats include:

• 250 MBBS seats at N.K.P. Salve Medical College, Nagpur

• 100 BDS seats at Ranjit Deshmukh Dental College

• 200 MBBS seats at Dr Vithalrao Vikhe Patil Foundation's Medical College

Overall, the seats comprise 450 MBBS seats and 100 BDS seats across the three institutions.

Private Universities Added to CET Admissions

The newly available seats will be filled through the CET Centralised Admission Process (CAP).

• N.K.P. Salve Medical College and Ranjit Deshmukh Dental College are under Lata Mangeshkar University, Nagpur.

• Dr Vithalrao Vikhe Patil Foundation's Medical College is under Dr Balasaheb Vikhe Patil University, Ahilyanagar.

Candidates have been advised to refer to Notice No. 15 issued by the State CET Cell for complete details regarding the newly added seats and admission process.

Maharashtra NEET UG 2026: Seat Allocation Rules

According to the notification, 40% of the total intake capacity of these colleges will be available for candidates from Maharashtra. Constitutional reservation provisions will apply to this 40% share.

The remaining 60% seats will be filled at the All-India level. Reservation policies will not apply to these seats.

Of the 60% All-India share, 15% seats will be reserved for Non-Resident Indian (NRI) candidates.

Maharashtra NEET UG CAP Round 2 Preference Deadline

The State CET Cell has extended the deadline for candidates to submit or modify their preferences for the available seats.

Candidates can submit or change their choices until 10 AM on September 12, 2026.

Candidates interested in the newly added private university seats should carefully review the applicable notification before finalising their CAP Round 2 preferences.

Scholarship Schemes Not Applicable

The notification states that scholarship schemes will not be applicable to candidates who secure admission to these private universities.

Candidates should consider this condition before selecting the newly available seats during the preference submission process.
