Description
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued a travel advisory for candidates appearing in the UGC NET June 2026 re-examination in Delhi. Candidates have been advised to plan their journey in advance as travel restrictions in the city on September 9 and 10 may lead to increased travel time.
NTA has asked candidates to check their routes beforehand, leave early and keep sufficient additional time to reach their examination centres. The re-examination is being conducted for the English, Commerce and Sociology papers.
Why Is UGC NET June 2026 Re-Examination Being Conducted?
The UGC NET June 2026 examination was conducted between June 22 and June 30 across 87 subjects. Following complaints regarding the English, Commerce and Sociology question papers, NTA constituted a committee to examine the reported issues.
The committee identified several types of errors, including factual, typographical, translation, grammatical and other discrepancies. It also reported repeated questions in the affected papers.
The issues included incorrect spellings of scholars' names, inaccurate book titles, problems in question wording, punctuation and grammatical errors, gender and number agreement issues, and the use of non-standard terminology for established concepts.
The committee concluded that the issues could not be adequately resolved only by removing questions during the answer-key challenge process. As a result, NTA decided to conduct the three papers again to provide candidates with a fair examination opportunity.
