The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) has released the notification for the UP Special Teacher Eligibility Test 2026 under Advertisement No. 03/2026. Eligible candidates can apply online from September 5 to October 4, 2026, through the official UPESSC website.

The state-level eligibility examination is conducted for candidates seeking teaching positions at the primary and upper primary levels in Uttar Pradesh government and government-aided schools. The exam will be held in offline OMR-based mode. Candidates can apply for Paper I for Classes 1 to 5 or Paper II for Classes 6 to 8, depending on their educational qualifications.

UP Special TET 2026: Important Details

The examination will consist of 150 multiple-choice questions carrying 150 marks. Candidates will get two hours and 30 minutes to complete the paper, and there will be no negative marking.

The examination is scheduled for November 3, 2026, while the admit card is expected to be released on November 1, 2026.

UP Special TET 2026: Eligibility for Paper I

Paper I is for candidates seeking eligibility to teach Classes 1 to 5. The prescribed qualifications include:

• Senior Secondary with at least 50% marks and a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education.

• Senior Secondary with at least 45% marks and a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education as per NCTE norms.

• Graduation with a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education.

• Graduation with at least 50% marks and B.Ed.

UP Special TET 2026: Eligibility for Paper II

Paper II is intended for teaching Classes 6 to 8. Candidates can meet the eligibility requirements through qualifications such as:

• Graduation with at least 50% marks and B.Ed.

• Senior Secondary with at least 50% marks and a four-year B.El.Ed.

• Graduation with at least 50% marks and a one-year B.Ed in Special Education.

UP Special TET 2026: OTR and Application Fee

One Time Registration (OTR) is mandatory for candidates before submitting the UP Special TET application. Candidates who have already completed their OTR can use their existing credentials.

UP Special TET 2026: Paper-Wise Exam Pattern

Both Paper I and Paper II will contain 150 questions carrying 150 marks. The examination duration will be 2.5 hours, and there will be no negative marking.

Paper I

Paper I consists of five sections, with 30 questions from each:

• Child Development and Teaching Methodology

• Hindi

• English/Urdu/Sanskrit

• Mathematics

• Environmental Studies

Paper II

Paper II includes:

• Child Development and Teaching Methodology – 30 questions

• Hindi – 30 questions

• English/Urdu/Sanskrit – 30 questions

• Mathematics and Science or Social Studies/Social Science – 60 questions

The general qualifying benchmark is 60% for candidates in the General category, while applicable relaxation is provided to reserved categories as per the prescribed rules.
