Results of Thousands of Candidates Affected Over OMR Issues

The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) has taken a major step over the UPTET 2026 OMR sheet controversy. The commission has constituted a five-member committee to examine representations submitted by candidates whose results were affected or withheld following the examination. The UPTET 2026 result was declared on August 26, after which several candidates raised concerns regarding their OMR sheets and results.

Around 50,000 UPTET Applications Reportedly Cancelled

According to the report, applications were affected because of errors in filling the roll number, language option and mandatory fields on the OMR sheet. TV9 reported that more than 60,000 applications were cancelled, including around 50,000 UPTET 2026 applications. The commission had evaluated the OMR sheets using computer software.

Several affected candidates have argued that their details were otherwise correctly filled and that minor marking errors should not have resulted in cancellation. They have been demanding a manual verification of their OMR sheets and the release of their results.

UPTET Result Declared on August 26

The UPESSC declared the UPTET 2026 result on August 26. As per the available data, 5,71,435 candidates qualified in Paper 1, while 7,59,513 candidates qualified in Paper 2. The examination was conducted on July 2, 3 and 4, 2026.

Five-Member Panel to Examine Representations

Following the result announcement, candidates submitted grievances through different channels, including personal visits to the commission office, registered post and email. The newly constituted five-member committee will examine these representations and submit its report to the commission. UPESSC will take further action based on the committee's findings.
