6.5 CPI will now be considered equivalent to First Division

Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology (MNNIT), Prayagraj has taken an important decision for its undergraduate and postgraduate students. The institute's Senate has approved a proposal to treat a CPI of 6.5 or above as equivalent to First Division. The move could particularly benefit students who face First Division requirements during recruitment and job applications.

Relief for students facing First Division criteria

Students at technical institutions are often evaluated through CPI or CGPA instead of conventional percentage-based divisions. This can sometimes create difficulties when a recruitment notification specifically requires First Division. MNNIT's decision is expected to make it easier for students with a CPI of 6.5 or higher to establish their eligibility.

Benefit for undergraduate and postgraduate students

The decision covers both graduation and postgraduate students of MNNIT. Students meeting the 6.5 CPI threshold could benefit when applying for jobs or other opportunities where First Division is listed as an eligibility condition.

Institute also promoting startups and innovation

MNNIT's Innovation and Incubation Hub Foundation is also organising a two-day Startup Pitching Session on September 1 and 2. Around 60 startups and entrepreneurs are expected to present their ideas, products, technologies and business models before experts. Selected ventures may receive incubation support, expert guidance and assistance related to product development and other areas.
