Description

Candidates have to pay Rs.200 for every objection

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has clarified its position on the fee charged for challenging the UGC NET June 2026 provisional answer key. Candidates are required to pay Rs.200 for each question they challenge. The official UGC-NET website published the public notice regarding the answer-key challenge process on August 16, 2026.

Why is NTA charging Rs.200

According to NTA's clarification, the fee is intended to discourage frivolous or unnecessary challenges and help maintain an organised answer-key review process. The agency has defended the charge amid concerns raised by candidates over the cost of submitting multiple objections.

What happens if an objection is found valid

Candidates can compare their recorded responses with the provisional answer key and submit challenges through the prescribed process. If a challenge is found valid after review by subject experts, the answer key can be revised and the correction can benefit all candidates affected by that question.

Candidates raise concerns over the total cost

The fee becomes significant when candidates want to challenge several questions. For instance, challenging 15 questions would cost Rs.3,000. This has led some UGC NET aspirants to question whether the fee places an excessive financial burden on candidates, particularly when they believe multiple questions contain errors.

Where can candidates check the official information

Candidates should rely on the official UGC-NET website for the answer-key challenge process, public notices and other examination updates. The official website currently lists the June 2026 answer-key challenge notice among its latest documents.
