The State Bank of India (SBI) is expected to announce the SBI PO Prelims Result 2026 in the last week of August. The Probationary Officer preliminary examination was conducted on August 1 and 2, 2026. Candidates who qualify for the preliminary stage will be shortlisted for the SBI PO Mains examination, which is scheduled to take place on September 12, 2026.

Once the result is declared, candidates can check their qualifying status by following these steps:

• First visit the SBI Careers official website.

• Open the ‘Current Openings’ section.

• Find the recruitment notification for Probationary Officers.

• Click on the link provided for the SBI PO Prelims Result 2026.

• Enter the required login information, if applicable.

• Submit the details to view the result or merit list.

• Download the result and retain a copy for future reference.

The preliminary examination does not have separate sectional cut-offs. Candidates are shortlisted for the next stage based on the overall qualifying score.

SBI PO Prelims 2026: Expected Cut-Off

The expected General category cut-off for SBI PO Prelims 2026 is estimated to be in the range of 58 to 65 marks out of 100. However, the actual cut-off will be announced by SBI along with the result and may vary according to factors such as examination difficulty, candidate performance and the number of applicants.

Previous SBI PO preliminary examinations have recorded higher qualifying marks in some recruitment cycles. Therefore, candidates should wait for the official cut-off before drawing conclusions about their selection status.

SBI PO 2026 Recruitment: Mains Exam Schedule

Candidates who qualify for the preliminary examination will proceed to the Mains stage. The SBI PO Mains examination is scheduled for September 12, 2026.

The examination will be conducted in two shifts:

The Mains result is expected to be released during September or October 2026. Candidates shortlisted after the Mains stage will subsequently appear for the Psychometric Test, Group Exercise and Personal Interview, which are expected to be conducted in October or November.

The final selection list is expected to be released in November or December 2026.

SBI PO 2026: Applications and Vacancies

SBI received approximately 12,14,076 applications for the 2026 Probationary Officer recruitment. This represents a significant increase compared with the previous recruitment cycle.

The 1,500 vacancies include:

• 588 posts for the General category

• 390 posts for OBC candidates

• 234 posts for SC candidates

• 144 posts for ST candidates

• 144 posts for EWS candidates

Around 11 lakh candidates are estimated to have appeared for the preliminary examination. Based on the recruitment criteria, approximately 10 times the number of available vacancies may be shortlisted for the Mains examination.

SBI PO 2026: Final Selection and Salary

The final merit list will consider performance in the Mains examination and the subsequent interview-related stages. The Mains examination carries 75% weightage, while the Interview and Group Exercise together account for the remaining 25%.

The Group Exercise is worth 20 marks, while the Personal Interview carries 30 marks.

Selected Probationary Officers are expected to receive a revised starting Cost to Company (CTC) of approximately Rs 21.97 lakh per year in metropolitan locations. The overall package includes benefits such as lease rental provisions, medical facilities and applicable incentives.
