Description
A large number of students who appeared for the CBSE Class 12 Board Examination 2026 made use of the board's post-result services, highlighting the growing preference for transparency in the evaluation process. According to information shared in the Rajya Sabha, nearly one-fourth of the students requested scanned copies of their evaluated answer books, while many others applied for verification and re-evaluation of their marks.
The details were provided by Minister of State for Education Jayant Chaudhary in a written reply to a question raised by Rajya Sabha member Anil Kumar Yadav Mandadi.
Nearly 4.04 Lakh Students Requested Scanned Answer Books
The government informed Parliament that around 17.69 lakh students appeared for the CBSE Class 12 Board Examination 2026.
Of these, approximately 4.04 lakh candidates around 22.8% of the total applied to obtain scanned copies of their evaluated answer sheets after the results were announced.
Additionally, over 1.68 lakh students, representing nearly 9.5% of the total candidates, sought verification of their answer books and/or requested re-evaluation of specific responses.
The figures indicate that a significant number of students chose to review their evaluated answer sheets before deciding whether to challenge their marks.
CBSE Reduced Fees for Post-Result Services
The Minister stated that CBSE revised its fee structure this year to make post-result services more affordable and ensure that financial constraints did not prevent students from accessing them.
As per the notification issued on May 17, 2026, the revised charges were:
Rs 100 for obtaining a scanned copy of an evaluated answer book.
Rs 100 for verification of issues observed in the answer book.
Rs 25 per question for re-evaluation.
The revised fee structure was introduced to make the review process more accessible and student-friendly.
Re-evaluation Fee Refunded If Marks Increased
The government also highlighted that candidates whose marks increased after the re-evaluation process were provided a full refund of the re-evaluation fee.
According to the Minister, this measure was introduced to ensure that students were not required to bear the cost when an error in evaluation was identified and corrected.
Greater Transparency in the Evaluation Process
The high number of applications for scanned answer sheets reflects increasing awareness among students about the post-result review facilities offered by CBSE.
By allowing candidates to access their evaluated answer books before seeking verification or re-evaluation, the board aims to promote greater transparency and fairness in the assessment process. The revised fee structure and refund policy further support this objective by making the services more affordable.
CBSE Class 12 Board Exams 2026
The CBSE Class 12 Board Examinations 2026 were conducted between February 17 and April 9, and the results were announced on May 13, 2026.
Following the declaration of results, students were given the option to apply for scanned copies of their evaluated answer sheets, verification of marks, and re-evaluation. The data presented in Parliament highlights the widespread use of these post-result services by students across the country.
