The Consortium of National Law Universities (CNLU) is expected to release the CLAT 2027 Notification shortly, with the announcement likely to be made today, July 22, 2026. The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2027 will serve as the gateway for admission to undergraduate and postgraduate law programmes offered by participating National Law Universities (NLUs) and other affiliated institutions across India.

Ahead of the notification, the Consortium has confirmed that there will be no changes to the syllabus, exam pattern, or section-wise structure for both the UG and PG examinations. Candidates preparing for CLAT 2027 can continue their preparation based on the previous year's format.

No Changes in CLAT 2027 Exam Pattern

In an official notice released on July 21, 2026, the Consortium informed candidates that the decision was taken during the Governing Body meeting held on July 18, 2026.

The governing body decided to retain the existing syllabus and examination pattern for CLAT 2027. However, the Convenor of CLAT 2027 and question paper setters have been advised to consider the recommendations made in the CLAT Expert Committee Report to further improve the quality and format of questions wherever feasible.

Expert Committee Report Open for Public Feedback

The Consortium has also uploaded the CLAT Expert Committee Report on its official website and invited feedback from:

• Students

• Legal experts

• Academicians

• Members of the public

Suggestions can be submitted until August 31, 2026 and may help shape future improvements in the examination process.

• First visit the official Consortium of NLUs website.

• Click on the CLAT 2027 Notification link available on the homepage.

• The notification PDF will open on the screen.

• Download and save the document for future reference.

Recent Developments in Legal Education

In a separate initiative, the Bar Council of India (BCI) and the Ministry of Law and Justice recently discussed a 10-year roadmap to strengthen legal education in Hindi and other Indian languages.
