The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) has invited online applications for the Probationary Officer (PO) and Specialist Officer (SO) Recruitment 2026. Interested and eligible candidates can submit their applications through the official IBPS website before the registration deadline of July 21, 2026.

This recruitment drive aims to fill a total of 7,460 vacancies, including 6,715 Probationary Officer (PO) posts and 745 Specialist Officer (SO) posts.

Eligibility Criteria

Probationary Officer (PO)

Applicants must hold a Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a university recognized by the Government of India or possess an equivalent qualification approved by the Central Government.

Candidates should have their degree certificate or mark sheet available at the time of online registration and must provide the percentage of marks obtained in graduation while filling out the application form.

Specialist Officer (SO)

The educational qualifications vary depending on the specialist post. Candidates should refer to the official detailed notification for the post-specific eligibility requirements.

How to Apply

Candidates can complete the online application process by following these steps:

• Visit the official IBPS website.

• Open the IBPS PO/SO Recruitment 2026 registration link available on the homepage.

• Register by providing the required details.

• Log in and complete the online application form.

• Pay the prescribed application fee through the available online payment methods.

• Submit the application and download the confirmation page.

• Take a printout of the submitted application for future reference.

Application Fee

For Probationary Officer (PO)

• SC/ST/PwBD candidates: Rs 175

• All other categories: Rs 850

For Specialist Officer (SO)

• SC/ST/PwBD candidates: Rs 175

• All other categories: Rs 850

The application fee can be paid through Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking, or UPI.

Selection Process

Probationary Officer (PO)

The recruitment process includes three stages:

• Preliminary Examination

• Main Examination

• Personality Test

The Preliminary Examination consists of 100 objective questions carrying 100 marks, with a duration of 60 minutes.

The Main Examination includes 170 questions for a total of 200 marks, and candidates will have 160 minutes to complete the test.

IBPS follows a negative marking system in the objective examinations. For every incorrect answer, 0.25 marks (one-fourth of the marks assigned to the question) will be deducted. No penalty is applied for unanswered questions.

Specialist Officer (SO)

The selection process for Specialist Officer posts includes:

• Online Preliminary Examination

• Online Main Examination

• Interview

Only candidates who qualify in the preliminary examination will be shortlisted for the main examination. The final merit list will be prepared based on the marks secured in the Main Examination and the Interview.
