The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has launched the Viksit Bharat Yuva Connect Programme (VBYCP), a nationwide campaign aimed at encouraging youth participation in nation-building while spreading awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse.

Organised through Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat), the initiative will run from July 16 to August 15 under the theme "Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat." Colleges and universities across the country will host a series of awareness activities designed to inspire students to contribute to India's vision of becoming a developed nation by 2047.

Campaign to Engage Students Across Higher Educational Institutions

The month-long programme will be conducted in colleges and universities, where students will participate in discussions, interactive sessions, awareness campaigns, and digital engagement through the MY Bharat platform.

The initiative primarily targets young people aged 15 to 25 years, including students from urban, rural, and tribal communities. Instead of limiting the campaign to conventional lectures, institutions will organise interactive sessions led by youth leaders and achievers to encourage meaningful conversations on substance abuse, civic responsibility, and national development.

Linking a Drug-Free Youth Movement with Viksit Bharat 2047

According to the ministry, the campaign seeks to connect the goal of creating a drug-free society with the broader Viksit Bharat@2047 vision. Students will be encouraged to understand how staying away from substance abuse can positively influence education, career growth, and the country's overall progress.

The programme aims to motivate young citizens to actively participate in India's development journey while promoting healthy lifestyles and responsible citizenship.

Youth Achievers to Interact with Students

One of the major highlights of the campaign is the participation of accomplished young leaders from various government initiatives. These speakers will share their experiences and encourage students to contribute positively to society.

The sessions will feature:

• State Champions of the Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue (VBYLD)

• Winners of the Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament

• National Service Scheme (NSS) Award recipients

• National Youth Award winners

• Other distinguished youth leaders

These interactions will focus on leadership, social responsibility, career development, and the importance of remaining free from substance abuse.

Awareness Film and Nasha Mukt Bharat Pledge

As part of the campaign, educational institutions will screen a documentary highlighting the impact of drug addiction on individuals, families, and society. The film will include real-life experiences to help students understand the long-term consequences of substance abuse.

At the end of each session, participants will take the Nasha Mukt Bharat Pledge, reaffirming their commitment to leading a drug-free life and contributing to the country's development.

Where feasible, institutions will also organise interactive sessions with recovery warriors, supported by non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and spiritual organisations. These interactions will offer students an opportunity to hear inspiring stories of recovery and rehabilitation.

MY Bharat Registration Drive

The campaign will also promote registration on the MY Bharat Portal. Facilitation counters will be established at participating institutions to assist students with the registration process and provide information about youth development initiatives offered through the platform.

To increase awareness and participation, campuses will display banners, standees, and digital promotional materials throughout the campaign period.

Long-Term Campus Engagement

The Ministry has indicated that the initiative is intended to create sustained youth engagement beyond the one-month campaign. Participating institutions may establish MY Bharat Chapters, which will continue organising youth-focused activities and community engagement programmes on campus.

All programme registrations and related activities will be managed through the MY Bharat Portal, ensuring continuous participation and coordination among educational institutions.

The Viksit Bharat Yuva Connect Programme represents another step in the government's efforts to involve young people in national development while promoting awareness about the importance of a drug-free society.
