Description
Skyroot Aerospace has announced the launch window for Vikram-1, scheduled between 12 July and 4 August 2026. The mission, named Mission Aagaman, will lift off from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC-SHAR), Sriharikota, marking the maiden orbital flight of India’s first privately developed orbital launch vehicle.
Vikram-1 Launch Vehicle
Vikram-1 is a multi-stage orbital launch vehicle developed by Hyderabad-based Skyroot Aerospace. Built with an advanced all-carbon composite structure, the rocket is capable of placing payloads of up to 350 kg into Low Earth Orbit (LEO), making it suitable for launching small satellites.
Mission Aagaman: Objectives
The primary goal of Mission Aagaman is to gather real-time flight data and assess the rocket’s performance across its critical systems. The mission will also help validate key design and engineering parameters, providing valuable insights for the development of future launch vehicles.
Development Progress and Previous Achievement
By 1 July 2026, Skyroot Aerospace had successfully completed the integration and stacking of all Vikram-1 stages at the launch pad. The fully assembled rocket was unveiled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in November 2025 during the inauguration of Skyroot’s Infinity campus.
Skyroot previously created history with Vikram-S, which was launched on 18 November 2022 and became India’s first privately built rocket to reach space. The upcoming Vikram-1 mission will carry payloads for both Indian and international customers under a partially commercial mission configuration.
