The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) has released the notification for the Combined Technical Services (CTS) Examination 2026 (Diploma/ITI Level). Through this recruitment drive, TNPSC aims to fill 839 vacancies across 56 technical posts in various departments of the Tamil Nadu government.

The online application process will begin on July 17, 2026, and eligible candidates can submit their applications until August 15, 2026. The written examination for the recruitment is expected to be conducted on September 20, 2026.

Rural Development Department Accounts for Highest Vacancies

The recruitment notification includes posts across several government departments, including:

• Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department

• Agriculture Department

• Public Works Department

• Highways Department

• Employment and Training Department

The Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department has the largest share of vacancies. It includes:

• 149 vacancies for the post of Road Inspector

• 129 vacancies for Overseer/Junior Draughting Officer

Other key vacancies announced under the recruitment include:

• 119 Junior Training Officer posts in the Employment and Training Department

• 110 Assistant Agricultural Officer posts in the Agriculture Department

• 101 Junior Draughting Officer posts under the Water Resources wing of the Public Works Department

Eligibility Criteria and Selection Process

Candidates applying for TNPSC CTS 2026 must have the required educational qualification based on the post. Applicants should possess relevant qualifications such as:

• Diploma in the concerned engineering or technical discipline

• Industrial Training Institute (ITI) certificate

• National Trade Certificate (NTC)

• National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC)

The selection process will include a written examination followed by document verification. TNPSC has clarified that there will be no interview round for Diploma and ITI-level technical positions.

TNPSC CTS 2026 Application Schedule

As per the official notification, the recruitment timeline is as follows:

• Notification release date: July 7, 2026

• Online application start date: July 17, 2026

• Last date to apply: August 15, 2026 (up to 11:59 PM)

• Written examination date: September 20, 2026 (tentative)

Eligible candidates will be able to apply through the official TNPSC online examination portal once the application link becomes active.
