The National Testing Agency (NTA) has confirmed that the result of the re-NEET UG 2026 examination will be announced by July 20, 2026. While an exact date has not yet been specified, officials indicated that the evaluation process is being carried out on a priority basis to ensure early publication of results, as reported by ANI.

An NTA official also stated that the delay caused due to the re-examination will not impact the scheduled start of the MBBS academic session.

Background of the Re-NEET UG Exam

The re-examination was conducted on June 21, 2026, after the original NEET UG exam held on May 3, 2026 was cancelled following allegations of question paper leakage. More than 20 lakh candidates had appeared in the initial examination.

Answer Key and Objection Process

The provisional answer key was released on June 25, allowing candidates to raise objections until June 28. According to officials, nearly 10,000 challenges were submitted by aspirants.

NTA is currently reviewing all objections carefully before finalising the answer key and preparing the result. Each objection is being examined along with supporting evidence before a final decision is made.

Result Timeline and Academic Session

Officials have reiterated that although the re-exam has affected timelines, the MBBS academic session will begin as scheduled. However, the counselling schedule is yet to be announced.

Once the NEET UG 2026 results are declared, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) will release the counselling schedule for:

• 15% All India Quota (AIQ) seats

• AIIMS and JIPMER institutes

• Central and deemed universities

State counselling authorities will separately conduct admission processes for the remaining 85% state quota seats.

NEET UG Counselling Process

After results are announced, candidates will need to register online, pay the counselling fee, and fill in their preferred colleges and courses. Seat allotment will be based on NEET rank, category, reservation policies, preferences, and availability of seats.

Selected candidates must report to their allotted colleges for document verification and admission formalities. The counselling process is expected to be conducted in multiple rounds, including Round 1, Round 2, Mop-up Round, and Stray Vacancy Round.

State-Level Admissions

Meanwhile, several states, including Tamil Nadu, have already begun preparatory steps for admissions while awaiting the NEET UG 2026 result.
