Description

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has opened the Detailed Application Form (DAF) submission process for candidates who have cleared the Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2026. Those who are eligible can now complete the application formalities for the Civil Services Main Examination through the official UPSC website.

The DAF submission portal became active on June 19, 2026 and will remain open until June 28, 2026. Filling out the form is compulsory for all shortlisted candidates who wish to appear in the Mains examination.

As per UPSC guidelines, candidates can use the DAF portal to confirm or update their personal details, pay the required examination fee, provide information regarding scribe or assistive facilities, request large-font question papers if needed, and submit their preferred cadre choices. The e-admit cards for the Mains exam will only be issued after successful completion of the DAF process.

The application fee is Rs 200 for applicable candidates. However, female candidates, SC, ST, and PwBD applicants are exempt from paying this fee.

Steps to apply for UPSC CSE Mains 2026

  • Visit the UPSC official website.

  • Log in using your registration credentials

  • Verify personal and academic information

  • Update reservation or category details, if required

  • Enter cadre preferences

  • Provide scribe or assistive device information, if applicable

  • Pay the Rs 200 fee, if applicable

  • Review all details carefully before submission

  • Download and save the confirmation page

Candidates are advised to keep a printed copy of the confirmation page for future use. The UPSC Civil Services Main Examination includes nine papers. Those who clear the Mains will be called for the Personality Test (Interview), which carries 275 marks. The Mains examination is scheduled to begin on August 21, 2026.
