Description
The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has announced the third edition of the Bharatiya Antariksh Hackathon, a nationwide competition designed to encourage innovation and problem-solving among students interested in space science and technology.
The initiative provides participants with an opportunity to work on practical challenges aligned with India's expanding space exploration and research programmes. Students will also receive guidance from ISRO scientists, researchers, and subject matter experts throughout the competition.
In addition, ISRO has indicated that outstanding participants may be considered for internship opportunities with the organisation.
Focus Areas and Challenge Statements
The hackathon includes 15 problem statements covering a wide range of advanced scientific and technological domains. Participants will be expected to develop innovative solutions related to:
Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning
Climate and Weather Modelling
Satellite Data Analysis
Air Quality Monitoring
Agriculture and Remote Sensing
Exoplanet Discovery
Lunar Science and Exploration
Solar Activity Forecasting
Satellite Operations and Space Applications
Some of the featured challenges involve using AI to address urban heat issues, identifying subsurface ice deposits near the Moon’s south polar region using Chandrayaan-2 data, predicting solar flare activity with data from Aditya-L1, and creating a digital twin model of India's climate system.
Eligibility Criteria
The competition is open to:
Undergraduate students
Postgraduate students
Doctoral (PhD) scholars
Research students
Teams must consist of three to four members. Students from different educational institutions are allowed to form a team and participate together.
ISRO has confirmed that there is no registration fee or participation charge for the hackathon.
