Description

A document claiming to be a confidential circular regarding NEET UG 2026 has been confirmed as fake by the Press Information Bureau (PIB) Fact Check unit, just days before the re-examination scheduled for June 21. The circular, widely shared on social media, purportedly contained internal instructions for officials overseeing the exam. PIB clarified that no such directive was issued and cautioned candidates against trusting, sharing, or acting on unverified exam-related information.

Claims Made in the Fake Circular

The forged document, falsely bearing the National Testing Agency (NTA) logo, was titled “Directions to Examination Preparation and Moderation Panel for Re-NEET (UG) 2026.” It claimed to include confidential instructions and guidelines for exam officials. According to the circulated content, the exam paper would be prepared independently of previous sets, and the test pattern would focus more on conceptual understanding, analytical reasoning, and application-based questions. It also suggested that 40% of questions could be of higher conceptual difficulty, while moderators were instructed to maintain a “moderate-to-difficult” level to ensure fairness. Additionally, the document outlined alleged confidentiality measures, security protocols, and disciplinary actions for unauthorized disclosures.

Social Media Reactions

The fake circular caused a stir online due to its references to question difficulty and conceptual testing. Candidates expressed confusion and concern in social media posts, with comments speculating about possible leaks or unauthorized access to NTA documents.

PIB Clarification

In response, PIB issued a clear statement confirming that the circular is false and no such instructions have been issued for NEET UG 2026. Candidates were urged to rely solely on official announcements and verified sources for exam information.

Preparations for the NEET UG 2026 re-exam continue, with Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan reviewing readiness at NTA headquarters. Discussions focused on confidentiality, security, logistics, and inter-departmental coordination to ensure a smooth and secure examination process.
