Description
As the NEET UG 2026 re-examination approaches, authorities have introduced an extensive security framework to ensure a fair and transparent testing process. The re-test, scheduled for June 21, comes after the cancellation of the earlier examination amid allegations of a paper leak, prompting the government and the National Testing Agency (NTA) to strengthen examination security across all centres.
The primary objective of these measures is to maintain the credibility of the medical entrance examination and rebuild confidence among millions of aspirants appearing for the test.
Massive Security Deployment Across Exam Centres
To prevent any form of malpractice, authorities have planned one of the largest security operations for a national entrance examination in recent years. More than five lakh security personnel are expected to be deployed at examination venues across India and abroad.
The examination will be conducted in pen-and-paper mode from 2:00 PM to 5:15 PM across 551 cities in India and 14 international locations. Security arrangements have been standardized to ensure consistent monitoring at every centre.
Three-Tier Security System Introduced
A three-layer security mechanism has been implemented at all examination centres.
Candidates will undergo multiple verification and screening procedures before entering the examination venue. Security personnel and local law enforcement agencies will monitor entry and exit points to prevent impersonation and unauthorized access.
The additional layers of checking are intended to eliminate security gaps and maintain strict control over the examination environment.
Advanced Technology to Monitor the Examination
Technology will play a key role in ensuring transparency during the re-exam.
The NTA has arranged for:
Facial recognition-based identification
Biometric verification of candidates
High-definition CCTV surveillance
Real-time monitoring from a centralized control room
Live camera feeds from examination centres will be monitored to identify any irregular activities instantly. Authorities are also closely tracking online platforms to counter false information and rumors related to the examination.
Enhanced Protection for Question Papers
To safeguard the confidentiality of the examination, individuals involved in preparing, reviewing, and translating the question paper have reportedly been placed under strict supervision at secure locations.
These experts have been isolated from external communication channels, including internet access and mobile devices, to minimize the risk of information leaks.
Officials are also considering highly secure transportation methods for question papers and have intensified monitoring of social media platforms to prevent the spread of misleading claims regarding the examination.
Focus on Fairness and Transparency
With over 22 lakh candidates expected to appear, the enhanced security arrangements reflect the government's effort to ensure a smooth and credible examination process. Officials believe that the combination of physical security measures, technological monitoring, and strict handling of examination materials will help maintain the integrity of the NEET UG 2026 re-exam.
