Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL), a subsidiary of Coal India Limited under the Ministry of Coal, has opened the online application process for Apprentice Trainee positions for the 2026–27 training session. A total of 1,607 apprenticeship opportunities are available across Graduate, Diploma, Trade, and Paramedical streams. Selected candidates will undergo one year of training and receive a monthly stipend in accordance with the Apprentices Act, 1961.

Eligibility Criteria

• Nationality: Applicants must be Indian citizens.

• Educational Qualification: Candidates must have completed the required qualification for the position they are applying for from a recognized university, institute, or board approved by AICTE, UGC, NCVT, SCVT, or equivalent authorities. Only full-time, regular courses from institutions in Uttar Pradesh or Madhya Pradesh are considered.

• Age Limit (as of 1 June 2026): 18–26 years.

• Relaxation for Reserved Categories:

  • SC/ST: up to 5 years

  • OBC (NCL): up to 3 years

  • PwBD: as per applicable rules

• Additional Criteria: Candidates who completed their Graduation, Diploma, or ITI before June 2022, have prior apprenticeship experience, or have one year or more of work experience are ineligible.

Apprenticeships are offered in the following streams:

• Graduate Apprentice

• Diploma Apprentice

• Trade Apprentice

• Paramedical disciplines

Seats are allocated as per government reservation norms, including SC, ST, OBC (NCL), EWS, and Unreserved categories.

How to Apply

Applications must be submitted online through the official apprenticeship portals. Offline submissions will not be accepted.

Steps for applying:

• For Graduate and Diploma apprentices, register on the NATS portal.

• For Trade apprentices, register on the NAPS portal.

• Complete registration and generate an enrollment ID.

• Fill in personal details, educational qualifications, and upload required documents.

• Verify all information before submission.

• Submit the form and download/save a copy for future reference.

Selection Process

• Merit will be based on marks obtained in the relevant qualification for Graduate and Diploma apprentices.

• For ITI trade apprentices, merit will be calculated using an average of Matriculation and Trade Certificate marks.

• Shortlisted candidates will be called for document verification and eligibility assessment. Final selection will depend on meeting medical standards and completing all formalities.
