The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts the UGC NET Economics examination 2026 for candidates aiming to qualify for Assistant Professor roles or Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in Economics. The official syllabus for the June 2026 session has been released on the NTA website.

The exam is conducted in two papers—Paper I and Paper II. Paper I assesses general teaching and research aptitude, while Paper II focuses on Economics as a subject. The test will be conducted in both Hindi and English languages in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode, and there is no negative marking.

Candidates are advised to thoroughly understand the syllabus as it forms the foundation for effective exam preparation.

UGC NET Economics Exam 2026 Overview

The UGC NET Economics syllabus is designed to evaluate a candidate’s conceptual clarity and analytical ability in the field of economics. It includes ten major units covering both theoretical and applied aspects such as Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Econometrics, International Trade, Public Finance, Monetary Economics, and Development Economics.

The examination will be conducted between June 22 and June 30, 2026, in online CBT mode.
