India’s first National AI and Digital Water Summit, officially titled the National AI Summit on Water 2026, will be held on 27 May 2026 in Bengaluru. The event will be hosted by the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) and jointly organised with Elets Technomedia Pvt. Ltd. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the summit was signed on 20 February 2026.

Artificial Intelligence in Urban Water Management

The summit will highlight the role of AI in transforming urban water systems. Key focus areas include AI-driven smart operations, digital twin technology, water-loss reduction, energy optimisation, data governance, ethical use of AI, and cybersecurity. These themes aim to improve efficiency and reliability in urban water utilities and public infrastructure management.

BWSSB Digital Transformation Initiatives

BWSSB will showcase its ongoing digital initiatives such as large-scale SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) deployment, GIS (Geographic Information System) mapping, IoT-based tanker tracking systems, and smart water metering platforms. These technologies are part of its broader effort to modernise water supply and sewage management.

Urban Water Governance Framework

The summit will also present BWSSB’s “Five Panchasutras” framework for future water governance. This includes the integration of artificial intelligence, data-driven governance, smart infrastructure development, sustainable investment models, and climate-resilient water security systems.

The event will be inaugurated by Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar. Additionally, Shimsha Bhavan in Jayanagar has been proposed as the site for one of Asia’s largest integrated AI-powered command centres for water and sewage management.
