The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released a clarification concerning the Class XII post-result process after students reported payment-related issues while applying for scanned copies of answer sheets from the 2021–22 examination session.

As per the official notice dated May 24, 2026, some candidates experienced incorrect fee deductions during the application process. In certain cases, extra amounts were charged, while in others, the system deducted less than the required fee due to technical glitches.

Refunds for excess payments

CBSE has confirmed that students who were charged more than the applicable fee will receive a refund. The excess amount will be credited back to the original payment method used during the application process. The Board has also clarified that students do not need to take any additional steps to claim the refund.

Action for short payments

For cases where the payment received was lower than required, CBSE stated that affected candidates will be contacted separately. If necessary, they may be asked to pay the remaining balance. However, no immediate action is required unless the Board communicates specifically to the concerned students.

Scanned copies to be provided

The Board has further assured that all eligible students affected by the issue will still receive scanned copies of their evaluated answer sheets. They will not need to submit new applications for the same service.

CBSE response and corrective measures

The notice, issued by Controller of Examinations Dr. Sanyam Bhardwaj, urged stakeholders to take note of the update. CBSE also stated that necessary corrective steps are being implemented to improve the reliability of post-result services in the future.

This clarification comes amid CBSE’s standard post-result procedures, where students apply for answer sheet copies and re-evaluation after the declaration of board examination results.
