Description
India Post has started the document verification process for candidates shortlisted in the GDS 3rd merit list under the Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) recruitment 2026. All selected applicants are required to complete their verification at the concerned Divisional Office of their allotted division.
As per the official notification, the document verification process will continue until May 26, 2026. Candidates must ensure they complete all formalities within the given timeline, failing which their candidature may be cancelled.
Salary details for GDS posts
Selected candidates will receive monthly pay based on their post. Branch Post Master (BPM) positions offer a salary ranging from Rs 12,000 to Rs 29,380 per month, while Assistant Branch Post Master (ABPM) and Dak Sevak posts carry a salary between Rs 10,000 and Rs 24,470 per month.

The recruitment drive aims to fill 28,636 vacancies across India. These include seats reserved for different categories such as General, OBC, SC, ST, EWS, and PwD candidates. The merit lists are being released circle-wise for various states including Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Bihar, West Bengal, Rajasthan, and others.
The GDS 3rd merit list was published on May 11, 2026, and shortlisted candidates are currently being called for the verification stage. During document verification, candidates must present original certificates along with self-attested photocopies. Failure to complete the process within the deadline will lead to disqualification.
