The Indian Railways has begun the online application process for Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) recruitment 2026 under CEN No. 01/2026. Eligible candidates can submit their applications through the official RRB online application portal.

This recruitment drive aims to fill a total of 11,127 ALP vacancies across different railway zones through various Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) offices nationwide.

The registration process started on May 15, 2026, and will continue until June 14, 2026.

RRB ALP Recruitment 2026: Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must hold either an ITI certificate or a diploma in engineering in a relevant trade.

The age limit is set between 18 and 30 years as on July 1, 2026. Candidates belonging to reserved categories will receive relaxation in the upper age limit as per government rules.

Selected candidates will be placed in Pay Level-2 with a starting basic salary of ?19,900 per month, along with additional allowances as per railway norms.

Participating Railway Zones

The recruitment process will be conducted through multiple RRBs, including Ahmedabad, Ajmer, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Chennai, Gorakhpur, Guwahati, Kolkata, Mumbai, Patna, Prayagraj, Ranchi, and Secunderabad, among others.

Selection Process

The selection procedure includes the following stages:

• CBT Stage 1

• CBT Stage 2

• Computer-Based Aptitude Test (CBAT)

• Document Verification

• Medical Examination

Exam Pattern Overview

CBT-1:

• 75 questions from Mathematics, Reasoning, General Science, and General Awareness

• Duration: 60 minutes

• Negative marking: 1/3 mark deducted for each wrong answer

CBT-2:

• Part A: 100 questions

• Part B: 75 technical questions

• Minimum qualifying marks in Part B: 35%

Candidates who qualify CBT-2 will appear for the CBAT, where a minimum T-score of 42 in each test battery is required. Final selection will be based on 50% weightage from CBT-2 Part A and 50% from CBAT performance.
