The Indian Army has announced the recruitment for the Technical Entry Scheme (TES) 56, with training scheduled to begin in January 2027. This entry route allows eligible candidates to join the Army as officers on a permanent commission through the 10+2 technical entry system. Interested candidates can apply online via the official portal.

Eligibility Criteria and Vacancies

  • Educational Qualification: Candidates must have completed Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics and must have appeared for JEE Main 2026.

  • Minimum Marks: Applicants should have scored at least 60% in PCM in Class 12.

  • Age Limit: Between 16.5 and 19.5 years, with date of birth falling between 1 July 2007 and 1 July 2010 (inclusive). The age is calculated as of 1 January 2027.

  • Vacancies: A total of 90 posts for the rank of Lieutenant are available under TES-56.

Selection Process

  • Shortlisting: Applications will be shortlisted based on the candidate’s JEE Main rank.

  • SSB Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be called for a five-day Services Selection Board (SSB) interview.

  • Medical Examination: Candidates who clear the SSB stage will undergo a medical fitness test before the final merit list is released.

Training and Career Progression

  • The training period spans four years:

    • First three years: Training at Cadet Training Wings.

    • Fourth year: Training at the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun.

  • Upon successful completion, cadets will earn an engineering degree and be commissioned as Lieutenants.

Application Process and Stipend

  • Application Fee: There is no fee for TES-56 applicants.

  • How to Apply: Candidates can fill out the officer entry application form online at the Join Indian Army website.

  • Stipend: Cadets will receive a monthly stipend of Rs 56,100 during the final year of training. Once commissioned, officers will be placed in Level 10 pay scale as Lieutenants.
