Description

Rahul Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha and Congress MP from Raebareli, raised concerns on social media regarding alleged irregularities in the NEET UG 2026 examination. In a post on X, he claimed that exam-related questions were reportedly circulated on WhatsApp nearly 42 hours before the test, affecting more than 22 lakh students across the country.

Rahul Gandhi described the examination process as compromised and alleged that question papers were being traded through messaging platforms ahead of the exam. He also referred to reports claiming 89 paper leak incidents and 48 re-examinations over the last decade, questioning repeated assurances given to students and expressing support for aspirants affected by the controversy.

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra Questions Effectiveness of Anti-Paper Leak Laws

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Congress MP from Wayanad, also reacted to the alleged irregularities linked to NEET UG 2026. She stated that recurring reports of exam-related corruption were severely impacting students and their families, with nearly 23 lakh candidates appearing for the examination this year.

She highlighted the intense preparation and sacrifices made by students and parents for competitive exams like NEET and questioned how examination leaks continued despite stricter anti-paper leak laws being passed in Parliament. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra further stated that the country’s youth deserved accountability and transparency in the examination process.

Rajasthan SOG Investigating Alleged Leak Network

The Rajasthan Police Special Operations Group is currently investigating allegations that a set of questions circulated before the examination closely matched the actual NEET UG 2026 paper. Reports suggest that nearly 120 Chemistry questions allegedly resembled those asked in the examination.

Additional Director General Vishal Bansal stated that investigators were examining a “guess paper” consisting of around 410 questions, which was reportedly circulated between 15 days and one month before the exam. He also confirmed that no arrests had initially been made during the early stages of the investigation.

Authorities Probe Alleged Sale of Question Banks

Investigating agencies are also examining claims that the question material originated from a medical student from Churu studying in Kerala. According to reports, the content was allegedly distributed through contacts in Sikar before being shared across coaching and consultancy networks in different states.

Officials are investigating allegations that the material was sold for as much as Rs 5 lakh two days before the examination, while lower-priced versions were reportedly circulated shortly before the test. Digital evidence, including messages marked “Forwarded many times,” is also being examined as part of the investigation.

Arrests Made During Investigation

The Special Operations Group has reportedly arrested 13 individuals from locations including Dehradun, Sikar, and Jhunjhunu. Several of those detained are said to be linked with counselling services and admission consultancy operations, including a consultancy operator based near coaching institutes in Sikar.

The National Testing Agency stated that it received information regarding possible irregularities in NEET UG 2026 on May 7 and subsequently shared details with central investigative agencies. The agency also advised students not to believe unverified rumours while investigations continue.???????

NTA Continues Verification Process

Following the NEET UG 2026 examination held on May 3, the National Testing Agency reiterated that all relevant information had been handed over to central authorities for further investigation. Officials said multiple agencies are currently examining the authenticity of alleged leaks, digital evidence, and circulation channels connected to the case.

The verification process is still ongoing, and authorities are continuing efforts to determine the accuracy of the claims and establish whether any organised malpractice occurred during the examination process.
