The National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued an official clarification regarding the ongoing investigation into alleged irregularities linked to NEET UG 2026, following action initiated by the Rajasthan Special Operations Group (SOG). The agency confirmed that the examination conducted on May 3, 2026 was held under strict security arrangements at all centres.

In a statement posted on X, NTA said the exam was conducted smoothly with multiple security layers in place. These included GPS-enabled transport of question papers, AI-based CCTV monitoring, biometric verification of candidates, and deployment of 5G signal jammers at examination centres.

Security arrangements highlighted by NTA

According to the agency, question papers were moved using GPS-tracked vehicles with secure watermark identification. Examination halls were continuously monitored through AI-enabled CCTV systems linked to a central control room.

Biometric authentication was used to verify every candidate before entry. The agency also confirmed that 5G jammers were active at all centres during the exam to prevent electronic malpractice. NTA stated that the examination was completed as per schedule across the country.

Allegations reported after the exam

NTA said it received information about suspected malpractice on the evening of May 7, 2026, four days after the examination. This information was forwarded to central investigating agencies on May 8, 2026 for verification and further action.

The agency noted that any arrests or detentions reported in media reports are part of independent investigations conducted by law enforcement authorities. NTA also stated that it is extending full cooperation by sharing relevant data and technical inputs.

Investigation still in progress

The agency clarified that the matter is currently under investigation and final conclusions will be determined by the concerned authorities. It added that it will not speculate on outcomes and will act only after official findings are released.

NTA further stated that any verified findings will be addressed transparently as per established procedures and in coordination with the Ministry of Education.

Message for candidates

Addressing candidates and parents, NTA said the efforts and integrity of genuine aspirants remain respected and will not be undermined due to the ongoing inquiry. It urged all stakeholders to allow the investigation process to be completed.

The agency also confirmed that necessary decisions will be taken at the appropriate stage after consultation with the Ministry of Education.
