Description
National Testing Agency is likely to begin the objection process for the NEET UG 2026 soon. According to the latest notification issued by the agency, candidates will be able to challenge the answer key after scanned copies of OMR sheets are uploaded on the official NEET website.
The provisional answer keys for all paper codes were released on May 6, 2026, following the examination conducted on May 3, 2026. The detailed timeline for uploading OMR sheets and opening the challenge window has not yet been announced.
Over 22 lakh students appeared for NEET UG 2026
This year, NEET UG 2026 recorded an attendance rate of 96.92 percent. Out of 22,75,011 registered candidates, 22,05,035 students appeared for the exam, which was held in offline mode from 2 PM to 5 PM.
The examination took place across 551 cities in India and 14 overseas locations through more than 5,432 examination centres. More than two lakh officials, including invigilators, observers, city coordinators, and centre superintendents, were deployed to conduct the examination smoothly.
Authorities implemented strict security arrangements during the exam. Confidential materials and question papers were transported in GPS-enabled vehicles under police protection. CCTV surveillance systems were installed at all centres and linked to central monitoring rooms.
Steps to challenge NEET UG 2026 answer key
Once the objection facility is activated, candidates will be able to submit challenges through the official NEET portal by following these steps:
Visit the official NEET website
Open the NEET UG 2026 answer key challenge link
Log in using the application number and password or date of birth
Access the provisional answer key and scanned OMR sheet
Select the question or response to challenge
Upload supporting documents, if required
Pay the objection fee online
Submit the challenge form and save the confirmation page

Biometric verification and monitoring measures
The NTA stated that Aadhaar-based biometric verification was used to confirm candidates’ identities during the examination. Students who faced technical issues, fingerprint mismatches, or physical difficulties during verification were permitted to appear after manual checking and submission of written declarations.
Officials also monitored social media activity throughout the examination period. More than 65 Telegram channels were reportedly blocked for allegedly sharing fake question papers and misleading claims. Related complaints were forwarded to cyber-crime authorities for further action.
