The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released an important advisory for students appearing in the Common University Entrance Test Undergraduate (CUET UG) 2026 regarding the dress code and items permitted at examination centres.

As per the official notification, the CUET UG 2026 examination will take place in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode between May 11 and May 31, 2026. The exam will be conducted at centres across India as well as in 15 international cities.

NTA has advised candidates to strictly follow all exam-day instructions to avoid delays during entry and security checks at the examination centres.

CUET UG 2026: Permitted Items and Dress Code

According to the guidelines issued by the agency, candidates are allowed to carry transparent water bottles inside the examination hall.

The advisory also mentions that students may wear religious or faith-based items, including sacred threads such as kalava. However, candidates wearing such items are encouraged to reach the exam centre early so that frisking and verification procedures can be completed without inconvenience.

NTA has recommended that candidates wear light-coloured clothes on the examination day. Woollen clothing will also be permitted if necessary, but students should report early for additional security checks if wearing such garments.

For footwear, candidates are advised to wear:

• Normal shoes

• Slippers

• Footwear with low heels
