This year, the overall pass percentage for regular students stood at 92.09%, but the gender-wise statistics reveal a noticeable difference in performance between male and female candidates.
Girls Record Higher Success Rate
A total of 15,42,472 regular students appeared for the SSC examination across Maharashtra’s nine divisional boards. Among them, boys achieved a pass percentage of 89.56%, whereas girls registered an impressive 94.96%.
The difference of 5.40 percentage points shows that female students continued to maintain a clear lead in academic performance. In terms of successful candidates, 7,34,814 boys and 6,85,672 girls cleared the examination, contributing to the total of 14,20,486 passed students statewide.

Pass Percentage Trend from 2022 to 2026
| Year | Boys Pass % | Girls Pass % | Difference |
2022 | 96.06% | 97.96% | +1.90% |
2023 | 92.06% | 95.87% | +3.81% |
2024 | 94.56% | 97.21% | +2.65% |

2026 | 89.56% | 94.96% | +5.40% |
The data from the last five years indicates that girls have consistently maintained higher pass percentages than boys, with the performance gap widening further in 2026.
Consistent Trend Across Maharashtra
The higher performance of girls was observed across all nine divisional boards, including Pune, Mumbai, Nagpur, Nashik, Kolhapur, Amravati, Latur, Konkan, and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.
Even in divisions where the overall pass percentage was comparatively lower, girls continued to outperform boys. This demonstrates that the trend is not limited to specific regions but is visible throughout the state.
Growing Academic Performance Gap
The 5.40% difference in pass percentage is notable considering the examination involved more than 15 lakh students. The figures indicate that girls not only achieved better pass rates but also displayed greater consistency in exam performance and academic preparedness.
While boys still accounted for a larger share of candidates in several regions, their success rate remained below that of girls. The continuation of this pattern over multiple years suggests a stable and long-term academic trend within Maharashtra’s SSC examination system.
