Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the appointment of academicians Joram Aniya and R. Balasubramaniam as full-time members of NITI Aayog. The appointments follow a major restructuring of NITI Aayog on April 24. Ashok Kumar Lahiri has been named Vice-Chairperson, along with the induction of new full-time members such as Rajiv Gauba, K. Academic Background of Joram Aniya

Joram Aniya’s inclusion marks an important step toward regional representation, especially from Arunachal Pradesh. With over 18 years of experience in teaching and research, she currently heads the Hindi Department at Dera Natung Government College in Itanagar. She is the first woman from the Nyishi community to earn a PhD and has made notable contributions to indigenous literature and cultural preservation, particularly through her work on documenting Nyishi traditions and knowledge systems.

Governance Experience of R. Balasubramaniam

R. Balasubramaniam brings significant expertise in public policy and institutional development. He currently serves as Member (HR) in the Capacity Building Commission under Mission Karmayogi. An author and leadership expert, he has also written on leadership aspects of Prime Minister Modi’s public life. His core strengths lie in governance reforms and capacity building.
