Description

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has started the online registration process for UGC NET June 2026 from April 29, 2026. Interested candidates can apply through the official website as per the notification released by the agency.

UGC NET is conducted to assess the eligibility of candidates for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), Assistant Professor positions, and admission to PhD programmes in universities and colleges across India. The exam will be held in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode for 85 subjects.

Important dates for UGC NET June 2026

  • Application start date: April 29, 2026

  • Last date to apply: May 20, 2026

  • Last date for fee payment: May 20, 2026

  • Correction window: May 22 to May 24, 2026

  • Exam city details: By June 10, 2026

  • Admit card release: By June 15, 2026

  • Exam dates: June 22 to June 30, 2026

Application process and eligibility

Candidates must submit their application forms online through the official NTA portal. Applications sent through any other mode will not be accepted. Only one application per candidate is allowed.

Applicants should carefully read the instructions mentioned in the official information bulletin before filling out the form. Any mistake or failure to follow guidelines may result in rejection of the application.

The exam is conducted for

  • Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Assistant Professor eligibility

  • Assistant Professor eligibility and PhD admission

  • PhD admission only

Application fee

  • General category: Rs 1150

  • General-EWS/OBC-NCL: Rs 600

  • SC/ST/PwD/Third Gender: Rs 325

Candidates must provide a valid mobile number and email ID, as all updates will be shared through these registered details. The application process can also be completed using the “Meri Pehchan” single sign-on system. Aadhaar verification is recommended for a smoother process.

Exam details and support

The exam will be conducted at various centres across the country. Information about the exam date, shift, and centre will be mentioned on the admit card.

Details regarding response sheets and answer keys will be released later on the official website. In case of any issues during registration, candidates can contact NTA through the helpline or email mentioned in the official notice.
